Senior Shift Supervisor at Murray & Roberts

Introduction

• Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Senior Shift Supervisor to be placed at the Ivan Plat Platreef mine, in Mokopane, Limpopo. The successful candidate will report to the Mine Overseer. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.

Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

• Effective daily planning, organising and control within area of responsibility to achieve daily production, quality and safety targets
• Management of materials, consumables and explosives within tolerances for total section
• Accurate, timely, thorough reporting in line with the DMR, M&RC and client requirements
• Managing team performance and ensuring a competent, motivated and positive team
• Effective stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth workflows and target achievement
• Self and Team understanding of and compliance with M&RC and client standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols
• Ensure cost containment in section
• Effective Team and self-management and alignment with M&RC values and leadership initiatives
• Monthly planning and measuring of total section
• Development and mining construction for total section

Minimum requirements
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
• Blasting Certificate of Competency
• Recognised Shift Supervisor Certificate
• Valid First Aid Certificate
• Valid Medical certificate of Fitness
• Covid-19 Coronavirus Vaccination Certificate [Site Specific]
• Good communication skills in English
• Mine Overseer certificate/ Studying towards a Mine Overseer Certificate (advantageous)

 
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

• 5 years of working experience as a Shift Supervisor in an underground mining environment
• Sound knowledge of trackless mine development
