Senior Professional Officer at City of Cape Town

Requirements:

• Conduct legal research in legal information databases and other electronic sources to support legal advisory work.
• Provide a legal advisory service across the Energy Directorate.
• Draft and scrutinize legal documents for the Energy Directorate in collaboration with the Legal Services department.
• Prepare or assist in the preparation of committee reports.
• Resolve legal issues related to contracts and projects within the Energy Directorate.
• Manage customer complaints and litigation matters within the Energy Directorate.
• Assist in the development of legislation and policy within the Energy Directorate.
• Help formulate appropriate comments on new legislation and policy for submission to the Strategic Policy Branch.

Key Performance Areas:

• LLB degree required.
• LLM or LLD in Public Law would be advantageous.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience working in government, the NGO sector, academia on public law matters, or in the public law department of a legal firm, or as an advocate specializing in public law.
