    Senior Manager, Environmental, Social & Governance Risk

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • This role is primarily responsible for driving and delivering an operational Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) business and risk agenda. This includes identifying and extracting synergies, consistencies and shared learnings across the global businesses and African geographies.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure transactions meet the Group’s standards for ESG risk through ongoing management of business risk.
    • Manage appropriate disclosures in listing prospectuses/external disclosures, in order to safeguard the Group’s reputation.
    • Act in an advisory capacity to deal teams and clients on how best to manage environmental and social issues effectively.
    • Undertake site visits globally, identifying ESG risk and opportunities and advising clients and deal teams on mitigations. Approving/declining transactions accordingly.
    • Chair/lead on Association bodies (e.g. Equator Principles) where directed or in absence of Head of ESR.
    • Represent the bank on Banking Association for Sustainable Finance.
    • Collate and disseminate relevant information within SBG.
    • Develop Group Standard, Policy and Procedures for ESR.
    • Develop systems and process for the effective implementation of these within CIB and BCB.
    • Facilitate the Implementation of a Value Creation Plan by assisting management and regions in delivering superior performance.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Degree - Environment Engineer/Scientist (Bachelor of Sciences); Finance and Accounting
    • Preferred other qualifications, certifications or professional memberships: Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner

    Experience and Skills:

    • More than 10 years in Risk Management: Having a good understanding of E&S risks and mitigations as they relate to projects, transactions and developments.
    • 3-4 Years in Investment Banking: Having a good understanding of a range of banking products and approval flows for transactions
