Senior Manager: Audit Technical Standards at BDO South Africa

About the job

• The senior manager in audit technical standards is based within the audit technical department and is responsible for providing audit technical support to the audit practice nationally.
• The audit technical support predominantly includes consultations on firm methodology, audit opinions and audit software. The senior manager is also responsible for providing support within the department with key audit efficiency and quality projects, technical communication, as well as delivering audit technical training and designing training content.

Strategy

Key Performance Areas:

• Provide input into the formulation of the department strategy, contribute to the development of the business plan and internal processes to support the strategy, and implementation of the strategy. This includes project planning, resource planning, liaising with staff, reporting on project status, and post project completion analysis to ensure that business requirements are met.

Quality And Process

• Providing audit technical consultations to audit staff in respect of firm methodology, ISAs, modified audit/review/other related opinions, and audit software.
• Manage and prepare audit quality and efficiency projects such as internal audit guidance, producing audit templates, tailoring audit software content, and data analytics projects.
• Prepare and/or review the design of audit technical training material on quality workshops to qualified staff, delivering these workshops, and interaction with the training department to ensure training content is technically up to date.
• Maintaining the audit technical content on the intranet.

• Provide input to colleagues on their audit technical tasks performed.
• Promoting teamwork with the audit technical team by assisting and supporting team members with deliverables, as well as knowledge sharing with team members and the business at large.
• Demonstrate a commitment to self-development and growth through research and attending courses relevant to the role.
• Keeping abreast of relevant changes within their field of work, identifying areas of development and engaging with the National Head of Audit Standards to seek the relevant skill development, and writing thought leadership commentary/blogs/technical articles.

• 1-2 years post articles experience within an Audit Manager/Supervisor role
• 2 years’ experience within an audit technical or audit technical training role
• High degree of interest and passion for the International Standards on Auditing
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to process information critically and analytically
• Passion for collaboration and building relationships
