Senior Lecturer / Lecturer: Departement of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering at Stellenbosch University

Duties

• Teaching and developing undergraduate and postgraduate modules in the areas of mechanical design and/or systems engineering and/or mechatronics;
• Conducting research in the area of automation and digitalisation;
• Supervision of postgraduate students in the automation and digitalisation area;
• Support and fund generation in the digitalisation and automation research group;
• Rendering service to industry through specialist consulting.

Job Requirements 
Senior Lecturer:

• A relevant doctoral degree, plus at least three years' applicable practical, teaching and/or research experience, or an applicable master's degree in engineering with at least eight years' applicable technical or management experience in industry;
• An ECSA accredited BEng or BSc(Eng) degree in mechanical or mechatronic engineering or equivalent;
• Sound communication and teaching skills;
• Proficiency in English with the ability to function effectively in a multi-lingual environment;
• Good interpersonal and organisational skills.

Lecturer:

• A relevant master's degree, plus at least three years' applicable practical, teaching and/or research experience, or an applicable doctoral degree;
• An ECSA accredited BEng or BSc(Eng) degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineerings or equivalent;
• Sound communication and teaching skills;
• Proficiency in English, as well as the ability to function effectively in a multi-lingual environment;
• Good interpersonal and organisational skills.

Recommendation

• Evaluation by the NRF as a rated researcher;
• A good research record in cyber-physical systems, digitalisation and/or automation and fundraising in this area;
• For the lecturer position: a relevant doctoral degree, or obtaining a doctoral degree within the first year after appointment;
• PrEng registration.
