    Senior Lecturer.2.01

    Brief Description        

    Key tasks and responsibilities:

    • Teaching of various Immunology topics to undergraduate and postgraduate students across various disciplines in the Faculty of Health Sciences, development of a research programme, writing grant applications and participation in all academic activities of the Department. 

    The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:

    • Lecturer Level
    • Academic Qualifications
    • PHD in Immunology, or any biomedical related field.  

    Teaching Experience

    • Teaching Immunology within a university setting (1-2 years). 
    • Experience in employing various delivery modes to ensure high-quality teaching, learning practices and student experiences.
    • Successful postgraduate supervision or co-supervision of at least one (1) postgraduate students at Master’s level.

    Research

    • Demonstrated research capability. A record of independent research publications would be advantageous.

    Senior Lecturer Level

    Academic Qualifications

    • PhD in Immunology, or any biomedical related field.

    Teaching Experience

    • Teaching Immunology within a university setting (over 3 years).
    • Experience in employing various delivery modes to ensure high-quality teaching, learning practices and student experiences. 
    • Successful postgraduate supervision or co-supervision of at least two (2) postgraduate students at Master’s or PhD level.

    Research

    • At least eight (8) accredited original research publications, of which the applicant has to be first or senior author on at least four (4) publications.

    Advantages:

    • Evidence of grantsmanship.
    • Research experience in immunology, tissue culture, working with human samples, flow cytometry or immunoprofiling assays.
    • HPCSA registration.
    • A formal qualification in Health Sciences Education.
