Job Description

• This role is a senior investment analyst in the multi-manager business with responsibility for researching and analysing investment managers across asset classes and making investment recommendations. This includes ongoing management and monitoring of investment portfolios.

Key responsibilities will include amongst others the following:

• Manager Research: Research the investment universe and analyze asset manager solutions using qualitative and quantitative techniques.
• Research and present investment recommendations to the investment team and drive the implementation of approved investment recommendations.
• Monitor portfolio performance and manager performance of portfolios.
• Documentation of manager interactions and investment decisions.
• Asset class research: Support the asset allocation process with research and input on asset class views. Ongoing monitoring of financial markets and the investment industry.
• An understanding of portfolio construction and optimization techniques and researching of new investment techniques.

Investment Recommendation

• Make investment recommendations regarding multi-managed solutions, supported by qualitative and quantitative analysis.
• Provide input across all aspects of the investment process as required.
• Client responsibilities include composing client reporting commentary, the preparing for and presenting at client engagements, and supporting business development in their engagements with clients.

Investment Implementation

• Implementation of approved investment recommendations
• Monitoring of existing managers and portfolios
• Comfortable in the use of various systems to analyze data.
• Keen interest in research to support improved implementation of investment ideas.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

• BCom or equivalent degree with a focus on finance, investments, economics or accounting.
• Minimum 4 years investment experience, preferably in asset management or multi-management roles.
• CFA charterholders are preferred.
• Candidate’s academic qualification should support good analytical and numerical reasoning and a desire to study and learn.
• Quantitative ability in terms of an understanding performance and risk calculations.
• Fluent across Microsoft Office suite, especially MS Excel. Prior systems knowledge of Refinitiv Eikon, Zephyr StyleADVISOR, Morningstar Direct, StatPro and other investment-related systems would be advantageous.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R or MATLAB would also be advantageous.
• Candidate should show high energy, ambition, eagerness to keep learning every day, good problem-solving/analytical skills, adaptability, good verbal and writing skills.
• Ability to interrogate financial information and spot inaccuracies, questioning information.
• Passionate about research and financial markets.
• Strong attention to detail and focus on process is vital.
