Senior Instrument Technician (Recovery & Services) at Sappi

As a Senior Instrument Technician, you will be responsible for:

• Complete DCS system maintenance and configuration to accepted standards, performing system backups
• Implement and commission instrument and system-related projects as well as manage varied multi-disciplinary plant modifications and projects from concept to commissioning and close out
• Follow mill change management procedures, standards including safety standards when completing modifications and projects
• Optimise plant performance and control characteristics to maintain plant availability
• Review equipment in line with technological advancement within the industry on an ongoing basis
• Fault find malfunctions of field devices and system components with the aid of loop diagrams and test equipment
• Utilise DCS information to assist with fault finding and preventative maintenance
• Install, maintain, repair, overhaul, and calibrate a wide variety of industrial processes and environmental instrumentation
• Provide technical support to the maintenance sections including operations

What are we looking for?

• NQF level 6 qualification (Related S4 National Diploma) while an NQF level 7 (BTech ) would be considered advantageous
• 5 years of relevant experience within a heavy industry environment required
• Proven project management and supervisory experience
