Senior Finance Business Partner - Cape Town at Maersk Line

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performance Management / Building Standard Operating System:

• Drive an effective performance management system to help leadership quickly identify and correct performance issues in critical areas.
• Ensure consistent use of the Maersk Operating System within business teams.
• Assess and improve the root cause analysis (RCA) tools and implement the necessary processes and checks.
• Set and track KPIs in cooperation with functional managers and financial business partners (FBPs).
• Ensure consistent use of standardized data and improve the performance dashboard for visual management.
• Prepare senior management reports and monthly performance reviews.
• Encourage a problem-solving culture and continuous improvement within the organization.
• Use business intelligence (BI) analytics to guide decision-making and assess trade-offs in cost, operations, and customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with other departments to set and drive KPIs.
• Identify and correct derailed performance in critical areas through a proactive approach.

Cost Controlling / Cost Conscious Mindset

• Understand and challenge financial and operational data to drive cost-conscious decisions.
• Analyze and identify cost-saving opportunities within operations.
• Coordinate and track cost-saving programs, ensuring benefits are realized and reported.
• Participate in the operations finance community to share best practices and learn from peers.
• Optimize variable costs and improve cost recovery processes.
• Drive the appropriate use of financial models in decision-making processes.
• Accountable for budget, monthly, and annual financial reporting.

Partnering / Right Customer Centric mindset

• Collaborate with business teams to improve customer value.
• Balance cost-conscious decisions with a customer-centric mindset.
• Find new ways to add value and challenge the status quo.
• Ensure smooth financial interactions across teams, including Ocean Fulfilment, Areas, Market, and relevant center functions.
• Participate in the finance business partner community to learn and share best practices.
• Influence decisions through effective communication and present the right financial data.
• Substitute for leaders during business review meetings, as needed.             

WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• To be successful in this role, you need a Bachelor's Degree in Finance or a related field, with CIMA or CA(SA) being a plus.
• An individual with 5-7 years industry experience, and additional experience would be even better.

• Your interpersonal, listening, and communication skills are exceptional, allowing you to distill complex information into clear, concise messages.
• A proven ability to influence and lead change across multiple departments, and you're focused on achieving results and resolving issues effectively.
• You should have a deep understanding of business, industry trends and be flexible and can maintain a broad perspective while handling complex challenges.
• You're comfortable working independently or as part of a cross-departmental team, especially in situations that require innovative solutions.
