Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces, is seeking a thorough and committed individual to assume the position of Senior Farm Manager: Laying & Rearing for its GP Cobb operations. The Senior Farm Manager: Laying & Rearing is responsible for achieving the company’s targeted Laying and Rearing KPI’s through precision farming techniques. This position reports to Area Manager and holds the TASK Grade T12. The ideal candidate must be in possession of a tertiary qualification in agricultural management, animal production or related field, with a minimum of two years’ GP experience in managing large, commercial, Laying and Rearing facilities.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the achievement of the defined production KPI’s on the facility.
Limiting and reducing all forms of wastage, through accurate management, measurement and application of consumables, feed and resources.
Implement such control measures to ensure that overheads are controlled to budget and continuously strive to reduce costs through enhanced efficiencies etc.
Strict Risk control, including farm stock, assets and monitoring of alarms.
Ensure that all company assets are correctly maintained and are kept in 100% operational condition at all times.
Lead, motivate and retain dedicated, consistent and well-disciplined team.
Balance rigid adherence of SOP Manual, with the desire to find new and improved methods to improve output.
Fanatical Biological Risk Compliance to be maintained and enforced, to ensure that we remain disease free as a business, at all levels.
Ensure that all documents required to make informed and effective business decisions are completed timeously.
Projects delivered within timelines.
Maintain high quality data accuracy.
Produce well-crafted and effective solutions, dashboards and reports.
Conduct post deployment reviews.
Apply the appropriate selection of technologies for solution delivery.
Provide ad hoc support.
