    Senior Employee Relations Manager

    About the job

    Responsibilities

    • Develop ER service delivery model and resource allocation
    • Develop a union wage employee management strategy
    • Ensure that a high standard of ER is maintained across the organisation to promote a positive image of SSA as an employer.
    • Develop, maintain and review ER policies and procedures to enhance labour peace and ensure equitable treatment of all employees.
    • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure labour practices are proactively managed across the business.
    • Ensure effective ER capacity building programmes for managers and employees are implemented and monitored
    • Ensure effective co-ordination and management of the collective bargaining process
    • Manage the labour relations agenda and take decisions in the best interest of the long term Company/Union relationship.
    • Provide strategic ER advice to the Business on people management and employee relations.
    • Provide expert guidance associated with human resources processes i.e. retrenchments, relocations, salary offers etc.
    • Make cost/opportunity trade offs during CCMA disputes
    • Ensure that a sound labour relations information base is established and maintained to effectively facilitate management decision making.
    • Ensure effective conflict resolution processes and policies are in place to proactively address issues across the business
    • Manage the ER budget to ensure expenditure does not exceed the budget.
    • Exercise judgement in balancing the interests of the organisation and the interests of employees.
    • Ensure that labour practices and procedures are carried out in accordance with labour relations best practice.
    • Source external providers and manage SLAs in so far as Labour relations expertise is concerned.

    Qualifications

    • Qualified Labour Attorney would be highly advantageous
    • Experience developing and executing an ER strategy in a complex, multinational business
    • A demonstrated ability to apply the relevant labour legislation and the management of labour relations in a highly unionised environment
    • At least 8-10 years relevant experience at Senior Management Level
    • Stakeholder Management Skills
    • Negotiation Skills
    • Advanced Computer Skills
