    Senior Commercial Analyst


    What You'll Be Doing

    The person needs to have a thorough understanding of the External Market and Internal Marketing KPI’s, and financial objectives to provide data, analysis and insights supporting decision making.

    Provide senior management and marketing stakeholders with regular business analysis and KPI reporting, supported with synthesized insights, conclusions and recommendations to facilitate fact based decision making and strategy development.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Create and execute monthly financial/KPI reporting and analysis for senior management supporting key business processes and provide insight and recommendations based on reporting and analysis conducted
    • VCP, Annual and Quarterly planning process
    • Support Category strategy development, through interpreting a broad spectrum of industry, brand and product information
    • S&OP input
    • GMMR input
    • FYI input
    • Business review input
    • Monthly Category Representative Engagement KPI’s (Avg Spend, Penetration, LOA mix, category mix, etc.) interpret results in close collaboration with Sales Analytics partners and provide recommendations and insights supporting decision making
    • Reporting automation initiatives through leveraging BI tools

    Ad hock requirements

    • Provide Market and Competitor data analysis to support key Marketing/Business decisions. Provide insight and recommendations based on reporting and analysis conducted. Uses analysis conducted to influence cross functional partners
    • Euro monitor reporting and analysis
    • Monthly Nielsen reporting and analysis
    • Close cooperation with IMI partners to leverage insights from research conducted such as U&A studies, consumer profiling, etc.
    • Support Ad hoc category requirement for market analysis and insights
    • Develop and align marketing category profit plans and provide input of Marketing KPI’s into Source of Sales processes
    • AvO, NPU and UPR projection for SOS process, coupled with analysis to identify growth drivers to support growth opportunity
    • Develop annual Category Profit plans for VCP and budget planning with close collaboration with category and demand planning partners
    • Develop Category Profit plans for campaign planning processes (quarterly, campaign kick-off) on rolling basis with close collaboration with campaign, category and demand planning partners
    • Excellence in Marketing Systems and advanced analytical skill
    • Super user in marketing business Intelligence- and excel tools to generate data supporting analytical insights and partners with peers to help them close knowledge gaps
    • Leverage Advanced BI functionality (Dynamic Dashboards, Visual Insights, etc) to support process and systems efficiency
    • Development of tools / frameworks to support reporting & decision making
    • Support GMOP’s team in development and UAT for enhancements of GSAM functionalities
    • Manage Junior Analyst
    • Ensure successful on-boarding and probation process execution
    • Ensure skills and knowledge development to achieve maximum potential
    • Coach and develop direct team and ensure succession pipeline
    • Manage performance according to performance results
    • Provide regular 1 1, coaching & feedback and ensure timely PMP execution
    • Internal Business Performance analysis
    • Developing marketing category profit plan
    • External Market/Competitor data analysis support to Marketing/Business
    • Systems Skills (GSAM/Excel)
    • Managing direct report (Jnr Analyst)
    • Ongoing reporting & KPI tracking
    • Supporting Marketing Strategy
    • Key Influencers / Partnerships
    • Works in close partnership with all functions of the Marketing Dept and provides support to the Head of Marketing.
    • Liaise with key contacts in the global/regional Analytics to submit requested reports/data for South African cluster
    • Financial information and analysis will be exchanged and accuracy and timing of delivery will be critical in assisting Marketing Leaders in decision making.

    Work Experience & Education

    • BCom or equivalent degree Qualification
    • 3 - 5 years

    Skills & Competences

    • Strong Financial and business Skills
    • Analytics Skills to be able to translate business financials to provide comprehensive analysis of issues/problems.
    • Strong capability to learn and use different IT systems, Advanced Excel / Macro and PowerPoint capabilities
    • Excellent Communication skills with all Marketing Dept. functions , Marketing Systems, Finance and regional functions in IMI/Consumer Insights
    • Knowledge of Cosmetic & Toiletries Market and or Direct Sales knowledge preferred
    • Knowledge of Market Research would be an advantage
