What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

• You will identify and pursue new business opportunities in the renewable energy sector, focusing on C&I clients and identifying power generation sites. Overseeing the end-to-end execution of renewable energy projects, you will ensure timely delivery, adherence to budget, and achievement of key milestones. Your technical expertise will guide projects from conceptualisation to implementation, ensuring project viability and compliance with industry standards. Managing contracts with clients, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders, you will mitigate risks and drive project success. Conducting financial analysis and modelling, you will secure project financing and optimise financial outcomes. Staying up-to-date with the evolving energy market in South Africa, you will ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and permits. Building strong relationships with key stakeholders, you will represent the company in meetings, conferences, and industry events to promote our brand and building strategic partnerships.

What you’ll need

• To be successful in this role, you will need a degree in engineering and preferably also in project management. A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in a similar role, specifically in project management within the renewable energy sector, is essential.
• You should have a proven ability to drive successful sizeable (10+MW) renewable energy projects from conception to financial closure. Strong sales skills and a proven track record in developing and nurturing client relationships within the C&I segment are also required.
• Excellent knowledge of the South African energy market, including its regulatory frameworks, policies, and energy frameworks, is crucial. Solid understanding of technical aspects, EPC and PPA contracts, and financial analysis is needed.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, and the ability to work independently and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment are key. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required are necessary.
