    Senior: Business Analyst

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job 
    The Senior: Business Analyst is responsible for the management of system delivery projects for the Digital Channels function. The Senior will co-ordinate, track, and implement the business system integration and prioritise and set competing constraints within a complex system environment.

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job 
    The Senior Business Analyst role will participate in large enterprise projects and programmes supporting one or more work streams and multiple business teams. The Senior Business Analyst will be able to quickly integrate and develop a clear understanding of the business teams they represent, be self-motivated and resourceful, and have a strong aptitude for creative problem solving. This role requires the ability to understand financial-related work streams and help drive successful implementation of requirements and process

    Fintech is entering a new phase where operational and commercial excellence has become critical for success. A separate Company has been set up to drive financial products and services to expand the reach and speed of operations. There is an increased focus in the commercial areas, new products and services and scaling up of Digital capabilities.

    The incumbent must therefore ensure the successful delivery in context of:

    Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's) 
    Strategy Development and Implementation

    • Provide reports and analysis to support and contribute to the development of the functional strategy in line with the overarching business goals
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to enable the regular review of the functional strategy, roadmap and performance to ensure its alignment with the changing dynamics of the internal and external ecosystem

    Operational Delivery

    • Review project proposals or plans to determine time frames, limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of projects for group and opco synergy
    • Uses established project management methods to break down projects into a series of manageable stages iteratively, monitors progress for on time delivery
    • Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
    • Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual project status reports for management
    • Confer with project team(s) to provide technical advice on all relative business systems
    • Analyse and evaluates current work processes with Group Technology and Payments & e-Commerce project sponsors and, recommends changes to achieve efficiencies using best in class practices
    • Keep Finco heads and the Group Technology informed of all aspects of the projects and ensure that milestones and deadlines are met and that any conflicts, problems are identified early enough, so not to jeopardize projects delivery
    • Coordinate end to end onboarding of all Digital third-party vendors responsible for project delivery
    • Document best practices and lessons learned (heuristics) to inform future executions.
    • Identify all realistic projects risks, analyse probability, and impact and develop contingency plans to monitor and manage risks
    • Support projects closures and snags fixes
    • Responsible for the end-to-end delivery of assigned projects starting from creation of the business case to the transition into ensuring delivery to the required standard of quality and within the specified constraints of time and cost. Compliance to the methodology as defined by Finco’s delivery governance is an integral part of the role
    • This role will manage high complexity projects with cross functional impact across several technical systems, domain areas, System Integrators and Third Parties

    Governance 

    Operational, Tactical and Strategic Meetings

    • Provide input in strategic meetings when required
    • Provide inputs into the risk mitigation and controls
    • Provide input into the preparation of proposal on change initiatives, policies and procedures

    Escalations

    • Escalate issues that will result in severe time, scope, productivity, and cost or resource impact
    • Provide solutions to escalations that have multiple processes / functions impact on critical path of service delivery

    Function Tactical

    • Provide input into all projects initiated
    • Provide input into establishing objectives, targets and budgets for the function as applicable
    • Identify and document key risks, issues and dependencies and set mitigation actions
    • Prepare documentation required for sign-off / making decisions regarding tactical changes

    Performance

    • Ensure execution in alignment with divisional strategy
    • Continuous performance monitoring and adjust strategy and actions to deliver targets

    Reporting

    • Report on a periodic basis relating to progress made within the function and in accordance with the measurement metrics set by the organisation
    • Report on an ad hoc basis on specific projects, as required

    Budgets

    • Manage functional budgets in line with overall budget and business objectives
    • Managing project initiative budgets in line with business objectives
    • Support the reduction of cost of operations, in line with a least cost operating strategy stemming from the business drivers

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies) (1/2)
    Education:

    • 4-year Business Administration, (or related) Degree
    • Master’s in business administration is advantageous

    Experience:

    • 5 or more years of relevant work experience in in program / project management within banking, finance and/or telecommunications industry
    • At least 3 years’ experience within a non-traditional FinTech or Consumer Marketing environment
    • Experience at the management level in the financial sector
    • Experience in defining and project managing the technical and business implementation of digital products and services within a FinServ/FinTech environment
    • Experience working in a medium to large organization
    • Experience working across global locations/ regions and have a grasp of political, social, infrastructure and integrity challenges
    • Understanding emerging markets advantageous
    • Willing and flexible to travel within Africa and Middle East
    • English speaker. French language being an added advantage
