The automation engineer shall be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automated systems and processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of processes within the organization.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Designing automation systems: The automation engineer designs automation systems that include hardware and software components to automate manual processes.
• Developing automation solutions: The automation engineer develops automation solutions for production processes or equipment to improve efficiency, increase throughput, and reduce costs.
• Testing and validating automation systems: The automation engineer tests and validates automation systems to ensure they meet the design specifications and functional requirements.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving: The automation engineer troubleshoots and resolves issues with automation systems and processes, identifying and resolving technical problems that arise.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams: The automation engineer works with cross-functional teams, such as production, engineering, and maintenance, to identify opportunities for automation and develop solutions that meet their needs.
• Developing and maintaining documentation: The automation engineer creates and maintains documentation for automation systems, including technical manuals, training materials, and standard operating procedures.
• Continuous improvement: The automation engineer continuously monitors and improves automation systems, optimizing their performance and identifying areas for improvement.
• Keeping up-to-date with industry developments: The automation engineer stays up-to-date with the latest industry developments and emerging technologies, incorporating new tools and techniques into their work.
• Play a critical role in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of processes through automation
• Use technical knowledge and expertise to design and implement automation systems that improve productivity, reduce costs, and improve quality
• Strong programming skills to design, develop, and implement automation solutions for manufacturing or production processes
• Develop automation scripts, software applications, and web-based automation solutions that interact and integrate with operating systems, databases, and other applications or used to access, manage, and manipulate data
• Daily administration and operation of Automation tools, Ansible, Puppet
• Manage automation code and tracking changes
• Containerisation of applications using Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes
• Creation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Ansible, Git

Language Skills

• Proficient in programming languages, database programming, object-oriented programming, web development, API development, and source control

• Programming languages: Should have exceptionally strong understanding of programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or .NET
• Familiarity with Operating Systems like Red hat, Linux, Centos, SUSE Linux, FreeBSD
• Familiarity with Patching Tools like Ansible Tower, Satellite server
• Service Now: Familiarity with Service Now modules and development in Service Now
• Scripting languages: Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Perl
• Database programming: Automation engineers should have experience with database programming languages such as SQL
• Object-oriented programming: Understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts such as inheritance, polymorphism, and encapsulation is a must
• Web development: Knowledge of web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• API development: Experience in developing application programming interfaces (APIs) using languages such as WSDL, NETCONF, REST, YANG, XML, JSON
• Source control: Familiarity with source control tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, Git, SVN, or TFS
• Exposure to Automation RPA Tools
• Good understanding of networking, operating systems, and SaaS/PaaS platforms (Azure/AWS/Google cloud)
