    Senior Audit Manager

    Job Purpose

    • To support the Head of Audit: Wealth with ensuring appropriate internal audit coverage and appropriate consideration of conduct and reputational risk and reporting of GIA results impacting conduct and reputational risk as part of the coordinated assurance model. In addition, in the role of business partner, engage with stakeholders (internally within GIA and externally Group) in respect of local and international conduct and reputational risk trends and best practice.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Assist the Head of Audit in elevating the Conduct & Reputational Risk agenda and focus within GIA (during annual and quarterly audit planning, individual assignment planning and scoping, reporting) and ensuring the Business controls adequately address conduct and client experience;
    • Contribute to the overall Conduct and Reputational Risk GIA assurance strategy and planning process;
    • Assist in identification, tracking and monitoring the implementation of remedial/management actions arising from audits impacting conduct and reputation;
    • Analysing stakeholder and marketplace threats and opportunities that may result in conduct and reputational risk and providing mitigation solutions and best practice that ultimately enhance Nedbank’s reputation and derive value;
    • Assist in the monitoring of adverse media for conduct and reputational risk, and responding/leading appropriately;
    • Ensuring the continuous, proactive and consistent monitoring of conduct and reputational risks for GIA and facilitating reporting to Group in terms of coordinated assurance reporting;
    • Review outcome of conduct risk practices of stakeholders by analysing, reviewing and assessing internal controls presented as mitigants;
    • Perform fieldwork, as and when required, for specific key conduct and reputational risk related audits;
    • Monitor and analyse material conduct and reputational risks and control breakdowns through the facilitation of root cause analysis conducted by stakeholders and recommend appropriate corrective action and/or interventions.

    COLLABORATE WITH GROUP STAKEHOLDERS: 

    • Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships with other assurance functions (eg. Group Compliance and Group Internal Audit as well as Cluster Compliance and Risk functions);
    • Engage with stakeholders formally through determining scope of work, understanding and identifying client needs;
    • Provide advice, guidance, oversight to internal stakeholders and/or training on compliance to employees;
    • Advocate the conduct and reputational risk agenda throughout GIA and Group; 
    • Report to stakeholders on the state of compliance by reporting on how key conduct and reputational risks are being managed, highlighting areas that require.

    PRODUCE REPORTS: 

    • Compile and/or provide input into internal conduct and reputational risk reports and external disclosures by presenting relevant conduct and reputational risk insights for GIA and Group reports for presentation to various internal and external committees. 

    Use technology and tools and work together with the GIA Enablement team in order to create efficiencies in data analysis and reporting.

    MANAGE PROCESSES: 

    • Understand Group Conduct and Reputational Risk Frameworks; 
    • Ensure appropriate conduct and reputational risk coverage as part of the annual audit planning and quarterly refresh process;
    • Coordinate GIA conduct and reputational risk assurance with other assurance providers throughout the Group;
    • Ensure effective planning of GIA audits and consideration of conduct and reputational risk throughout the audit process including appropriate consideration of conduct and reputational risk on audit scope and findings raised by GIA during audit planning and reporting; 
    • Ensure appropriate conduct and reputational risk representation for all audit audits throughout the process;
    • Work with technical resources to continually enhance processes around coordinating, compiling, consolidating, and submitting management information and reports to various Group stakeholders, Governance Committees and Regulator in terms of the agreed engagement model; 
    • Address all requests for information from internal and external stakeholders.

    • Manage, maintain and improve relationships with internal and external stakeholders including GIA, Group and Cluster first and second line of defense).

    • Actively and participate collaboratively in the Group’s Combined Assurance Model.    
    • Support a high-performance GIA team providing best practice and industry trends and guidance with highest of quality and innovation to build best in class tools and capabilities.
    • Ability to facilitate discussions and influence various stakeholders internally within GIA and external stakeholders.
    • Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work and team are consistently and accurately maintained.

    Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

    • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

    Preferred Qualification

    • Postgraduate degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field
    • Minimum Experience Level

    The following minimum experience is required:

    • Minimum of 7 or more years in banking;
    • Business acumen and technical skills including:
      • Banking knowledge 
      • Reporting (Risk, Audit, Group, Regulator)
      • Communication Strategies 
      • Data analysis 
      • Governance, Risk and Controls 
      • Industry trends 
      • Principles of financial management 
      • Relevant regulatory knowledge 
      • Relevant software and systems knowledge

      • Business Acumen 
    • Risk management or Internal Audit experience required: 
    • Risk (preparation of risk forum papers, risk monitoring and analysis, knowledge of governance and regulatory frameworks, implementation of limits and policies and reporting); OR
    • Internal audit experience required (development of annual audit plan, audit scoping, fieldwork and reporting, Committee and Regulator reporting);
    • Business and process analysis and familiarity with technology (an advantage);
    • Programming knowledge and skills to develop business intelligence (BI) and management information (MI) dashboards (an advantage)
