    Senior Analyst: Capital Management and Projects

    ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • Reporting to and supporting the Capital Controller: Copper Africa, this role is responsible for support in executing all activities and deliverables within the Capital management and projects function for Copper Africa. General activities include budgeting, estimates, LOA reviews, cost reviews, financial analysis, financial modelling, and compiling executive reports and presentations, with the focus on capital management and projects. The incumbent in this role further supports the financial capital planning cycles of operating sites, performing in-depth financial-and scenario analysis, reviewing, and developing complex financial models, supporting strategic and Group finance projects, whilst also providing guidance to and supporting of finance teams and the implementation of the Copper Africa Finance operating model and objectives.

    • Copper Africa Business Controller
    • Copper Africa Finance and commercial teams (Regional and site-based teams)
    • Copper Africa Operations teams (Regional and site-based teams)
    • Copper Global Service functions (Business Analysis and Planning, Financial Reporting, Information Systems, Supply Chain, Transaction Services)

    QUALIFICATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Post-Graduate Degree in Commerce of Accounting
    • CA(SA) or similar post graduate honours degree (i.e. CIMA)

    Competencies:

    • Proficient computer literacy including Microsoft office
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, with both verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and dynamics
    • Delivery and service orientated

    Strategic/ tactical long- and short-term outlook

    • Technical knowledge of accounting principles and robust control environment

    Work Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years’ relevant post-article work experience, preferably in the mining/natural resources industry
    • Prior exposure to Reporting, Planning, Operational finance and support services functions
    • Demonstrated prior exposure to capital management and financial modelling
    • Prior SAP and/or Oracle experience beneficial

    GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • Primary responsibility to support the Copper Africa Capital Controller in executing all activities and deliverables within the Capital management and projects function for Copper Africa
    • Activities include but not limited to Capital Budget-, Estimates-, LOA Reviews, Financial analysis, Financial modelling, Executive reports, presentations and projects
    • Develop and document policies and procedures relating to capital management process (Acquire to retire), with a focus on capital planning, including standardised AFE forms, AFE registers, projects economic valuations and processes around capital forecasting
    • Implement capital management processes and procedures, including planning, reporting and approvals, to support current frameworks and systems (CMF, SAP, etc.)
    • Responsible for input, review and endorsement of financial assumptions and benefits of Operational Excellence improvement projects
    • Support financial planning and modelling as part of various Commercial evaluations or tenders (Including relevant corporate entities and projects)
    • Perform in depth financial-and scenario analysis
    • Review and develop economical valuations for capital projects
    • Support strategic and Group finance projects

    Provide guidance to- and support finance teams to execute on their accountabilities

    • Support implementation of Copper Africa Finance operating model and objectives
