    Section Manager Learning (Open Pit) - Mokopane

    Job Description:

    • The Mogalakwena Complex faces increasing change within and around its operating environments.  This includes rapid advances in technology, automation, and digitalization, shifting consumer market trends, macroeconomic challenges and evolving customer, community and shareholder expectations. 
    • These changes create an opportunity for renewal, efficiency and agility that will enable Mogalakwena Complex to shape a different future for its people, partners, and shareholders, as well as for the communities and countries it operates in.
    • This role carries a 7.4 legal appointment to ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act and relevant legislation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Development and implementation of a coherent and business driven Learning strategy for Mogalakwena Complex to support its strategic objectives.
    • Conduct training needs analysis aligned to business strategy, identify skill needs and bridge development gaps between current and future skills, in line with the needs of the business.
    • Track and manage Learning department spend to approved budget.
    • Oversee execution of technical training for open pit mining, concentrators processing plant, engineering as well as People and Leadership Development.
    • Maintain Mogalakwena Complex Learning centre accreditation.
    • Ensure compliance to legal and mandatory training requirements for the Mogalakwena Complex.
    • Be a catalyst for continuous improvement in the design and implementation of fit for purpose, simple, learning processes (using technology) that enable leaders to actively develop our people.
    • Create and develop a buy/build strategy based on future skills.
    • Create and develop leadership capability framework, ensuring that this is aligned to the company’s culture and future leadership requirements.
    • Manage and support Learning team to deliver on clearly defined key performance indicators and targets.
    • Curate and offer tailored and targeted leadership development programmes across the Mogalakwena Complex.
    • Assess impact of leadership interventions and assess ROI.
    • Building and implementing a roadmap to ensure that the organisation has the capability to support its business goals with its own talent (and limiting the use of external consultants unnecessarily).
    • Clearly identify skills and capabilities that optimally can be bought vs. built internally.

    Qualifications:

    • In collaboration with Anglo American, build appropriate partnerships in the formal and informal learning sectors, including Higher and Further Education Institutions, schools, independent training providers, and strategic agencies, to develop participation, education, and training opportunities and progression routes into Mogalakwena Complex
    • Working with the Head of Talent and HR Business Partners, ensure that the co-ordination and nomination for key leadership development and learning interventions is well planned and executed, providing an assurance that the right leaders are being developed in accordance with our business needs.
    • Working with the HR Leadership team, drive the evolution of Mogalakwena Complex as a learning organization through the design and implementation of interventions; supporting both group and localized cultural programmes to engage our colleagues.
    • Equip the workforce with the skills and experiences that will give the best chance to reach their potential as they move into appropriate roles through development and delivery of refreshed learning journeys to support the careers and pathways.

    This role is in the Human Resources department at a Band 6/12 level reporting to the Senior HR Manager 

    • NQF 6 Diploma in ODETDP
    • NQF 7 Post graduate qualification in HRD/HRM/Engineering/Mining or related field
    • Blasting Certificate 
    • Assessor/ Moderator/ Lead Auditor qualification
    • Mine Overseer Ticket will be advantageous.
    • Technical Mining experience and qualification will be advantageous.

    Experience:

    • At least five years Learning and development experience, of which three years in a middle management level.
    • Extensive knowledge of ISO system, MQA and relevant Government legislation.
    • Experience in Project Management will be advantageous.
    • Substantial background in Workplace Skills Plan / Annual Training Report, Social and Labour Plans, BBBEE, Employment Equity etc.
    • Coordination and management of employee training and development.
    • Demonstrated experience of successful delivery of L&D best practice in an implementation role is advantageous.
    • Senior/ executive level stakeholder engagement experience
    • Applied technical expertise in the design, delivery of solutions and measurement of results in the areas of L&D
    • Keep abreast of current innovation in HR and Learning & Development in other industries and companies, with an ability to articulate how changes within and outside the business will inform the capability, technology and organization required today and into the future.
    • Understanding of advancements in technology and digitalization that are shaping the future of work, combined with an applied appreciation of how this drives the need for innovation in HR.

    Knowledge and technical skills required:

    • SAP HR
    • Learning Management System (LMS).
    • Understanding of MQA I Share system
    • Microsoft packages with exceptional Excel skills
