THE JOB AT A GLANCE

• To manage the maintenance of all production equipment to ensure production can run efficiently.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Maintenance of processing, packing and labelling Equipment in the plant.
• Make sure equipment is safe for production and the environment
• Daily routine checks, inspections, lubrication and minor adjustments.
• Hourly Inspection of seaming quality and take necessary actions
• Daily condition monitoring of fillers, seamers and conveyors
• Conduct equipment audit and plan task for maintenance
• Conduct problem solving for all breakdowns
• Update operators workstation action log
• Condition of work bench, toolbox and cupboard – Apply 5S principle
• Identify minor defects daily and problem solve sources of contamination
• Ensure all work orders are returned daily with correct feedback
• Do plant walkabouts every morning and generate action to improve equipment reliability
• Improve operator skill in your area of responsibility 

Qualifications

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE

Key attributes and competencies

• Core knowledge – Experience in the operation and maintenance of seamers – Angelus seamers
• Academic – Qualified and trade tested artisan (preferably a Fitter & Turner) with sound knowledge and experience on seamers.  Practical knowledge and experience of lathe work (turning) welding (arc, argon, gas, brazing & soldering) and cutting
• Computer literacy
• Practical knowledge and experience of a maintenance management system e.g. Pragma or DMS would be advantageous
• Must be prepared to work overtime and shifts
• Able to work in a team
• Ability to work under pressure
• Problem solving abilities and fault finding
• Attentive to detail, innovative and quality orientated

Essential skills and qualification

• Qualified Seamer Mechanic with trade test
• N3 qualification as a minimum requirement
• 5 years as a seamer mechanic within the FMCG manufacturing
