    Safety Technician

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate Safety and Health Legal audits, surveys and ensure compliance to the OHS Act
    • Safety issue investigation and resolution (Safety and Health Complaints)
    • Review Personal Protective Equipment Needs and Suitability
    • Coordinate Statutory Safety related training
    • Conduct Safety Observation Index Audits
    • Conduct Injury analysis and develop PJO questionnaires
    • Conduct routine internal audits and inspection and log findings on CCAR
    • Introduce and drive new initiatives in terms of health and Safety in the plant
    • Regular internal communication at all levels by way of daily morning meetings and set cadences
    • Verify all High Potential Near Miss incidents and verify corrective actions implemented
    • Conduct administrative  
    • Control Audits and provide feedback to respective areas
    • Update monthly shop score cards
    • Assist Occupational Hygienists with hygiene surveys and compile action plans on findings (Develop CCAR for non-conformities)
    • Daily, Weekly and Monthly Statistics Updates
    • Assist in Emergency Response
    • Contractor Safety Management including training and auditing.
    • Drive FPS Program through SOS enforcement, process confirmation, WIS updates in line with RAMS and JDI performance board updates
    • Ensure daily focus on safety with relevant checklists and safety walks
    • Perform incident investigations, generate reports and statistics to relevant departments
    • Ensure Legal Safety Compliance Implementation and tracking by way of CCAR
    • Identify and assess hazards on new layouts before sign off
    • Training employees on the importance of health and safety on the job. Ability in making recommendations following any accidents or incidents
    • Update chemical registers
    • Facilitate monthly departmental safety meetings
    • Develop, update and maintain departmental training needs analysis
    • Perform workstation readiness, picture audits and station buy-offs

    Qualifications

    • Minimum National Diploma in Safety Management 
    • 2-3 years in Health and Safety
