    Road Transport Advisor

    OVERVIEW:

    • This position performs an oversight role on transporters engaged, either directly or indirectly, transporting Glencore goods along transport corridors in Africa.
    • The role provides support and guidance on a regional basis to internal as well as external stakeholders in the region, ensuring that the Glencore Road Transportation Safety standard is effectively implemented and managed.
    • The role is also responsible for conducting audits and inspections of transportation safety management processes on a regional basis and monitors metrics and indices reflecting performance.

    • Commercial Leads
    • Group HSEC members
    • Copper Commercial Team
    • Suppliers, vendors, and contractors as required

    QUALIFICATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Relevant Tertiary qualification such as a Degree / Diploma in Transport/ Fleet Management

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Advantageous to demonstrate post qualification studies or soft skills development

    • Working knowledge of performance management/ monitoring systems
    • Working knowledge of road safety regulations.
    • Understand and apply meaningful operations and safety performance metrics.
    • Knowledge and experience of ISO45001 and knowledge of SANS10228, Occupational Health and Safety Act, National Road Traffic Act, Road Transport of Dangerous Goods legislation.
    • HSEC auditing knowledge and experience
    • Relevant vehicle licenses / PDP

    Work Experience:

    • At least 5 to 10 Years’ relevant experience Fleet/transport management, Mining, Logistics, HSEC.
    • 5 Years which comprises of supervisory experience
    • Relevant HSEC knowledge and experience including: performance management/ monitoring systems, road safety regulations, HSEC auditing, ISO45001 and knowledge of SANS10228, Occupational Health and Safety Act, National Road Traffic Act, Road Transport of Dangerous Goods legislation.


    GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • Audit and Review Suppliers/Agents to assess their capability to manage outsourced Logistics Service providers, in accordance with the requirements of the Glencore Road Transportation Safety Standard.
    • Audit and Review Transport companies to determine their compliance with the Glencore Road Transportation Safety Standard.
    • Implement and maintain “Corrective/Improvement Action” monitoring program.
    • Implement and maintain “Critical Control” Monitoring program.
    • Maintain logistics service providers “Learning from incidents” program.
    • Incident / Accident investigations
    • Regional KPI and performance monitoring metrics.
