    Rehab Care Worker - Strandfontein

    Key Job Responsibilities:

    • Assist patients in their daily activities, including personal hygiene, eating, dressing, and mobility, while maintaining their dignity and privacy.
    • Implement prescribed rehabilitation programs under the guidance of healthcare professionals, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists.
    • Monitor and document patients' progress and behavior, reporting any concerns or changes to the interdisciplinary team.
    • Administer medication, following established protocols and guidelines, as applicable.
    • Create a safe and supportive environment for patients, ensuring the facility's policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
    • Assist in the implementation and execution of therapeutic activities and exercises designed to improve mobility, strength, coordination, and functionality.
    • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a therapeutic relationship based on trust and empathy.
    • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and modify individualized care plans based on patients' needs and goals.
    • Guide and educate patients and their families regarding their rehabilitation process, including techniques for home care and ongoing support if required.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient care, progress, and interventions.

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Certification in a healthcare-related field (e.g., Certified Nursing Assistant, Personal Support Worker) is preferred.
    • Proven experience as a care worker or similar role is desirable.
    • Basic understanding of rehabilitation principles, techniques, and equipment.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, their families, and the interdisciplinary team.
    • Good observational and documentation skills to accurately monitor and report patient progress.
    • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt to changing circumstances in a dynamic environment.
    • Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients with mobility, transfers, and activities of daily living.
    • Knowledge of infection control practices and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe care environment.
    • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, with excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills.
    • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
