    (Readvert) Snr Specialist: Strategy & Perf Reporting

    Position Purpose:

    • To develop a cutting-edge, world-class business intelligence and analytical function, as well as offer expertise in applying data visualisation techniques, to support decision making, strategy formulation and stakeholder management for the SCM community.
    • To develop and implement the performance management strategy in line with the Transnet Strategy and SCM strategy for Group and Operating Divisions, and act as an analytical powerhouse to be leveraged by critical internal stakeholders.
    • To develop and establish a comprehensive enterprise performance management framework of metrics, monitored through an integrated monitoring and reporting system, with greater transparency and accountability

    Position outputs:

    • Lead the coordination, consolidation, review, and provision of timely inputs for the Corporate Plan process, including providing he first line of assurance on the Corporate Planning process, to improve the quality of submissions into the annual Corporate Plan.
    • Lead the development and execution of the performance management strategy for the Procurement function, to enable the Procurement organisation, while strengthening various parts of the core business to develop and maintain competitive advantage.
    • Design an integrated (Group and Operating Divisions) and interactive (real-time) performance dashboard that tracks, analyses, monitors, and visually displays key business metrics; for well-informed, data-driven, and healthy business decisions and performance.
    • Improve the overall efficiency, productivity, performance, and business intelligence with robust real-time data analytics to spot trends and deal with SLA deviations immediately, as an early warning system to predict and prevent poor performance and non-delivery.
    • Define, evaluate and monitor/track Procurement function performance against Key Performance Indicators KPIs and SLAs, e.g., customer satisfaction, governance, and compliance, etc.; as well as develop improvement initiatives, mitigating actions and resolutions in collaboration with Procurement leadership at Group and across Operating Divisions.
    • Ensure deployment of digital performance management solutions to drive the integrity and reliability of data, including regular reporting and effectively communicating with end users
    • Lead the implementation of improved processes for regular performance monitoring and reporting against Key Performance Indicators, to provide business insights (including key drivers, risks, and opportunities) and inputs for medium- and long-term improvements, necessary for the growth of the organisation.
    • Knowledgeable and experience in business intelligence warehousing and capabilities of data management.
    • Ensure qualitative reports that comply with the statutory and non-statutory reporting requirements.
    • Develop periodic performance reports for the executive committee and other governance structures, containing strategic performance analysis and recommendations to guide discussions on performance issues.
    • Prepare regular diagnostic reports with clear recommendations for management.
    • Integrate all the critical flows of work from data analytics, diagnostics, and performance analysis to build a structured but concise report for iSCM, EXCO and FIC.
    • Monitor the planning and controlling of financial activities including procurement of goods and services, preparation, and utilisation of budgets, as well as collaboration with finance on the reporting of financial expenditure.  
    • Lead and manage people through mentorship, performance and behavioural coaching, skills, and implementation for an effective organisational culture.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • B Degree / BTech in Computer Science, Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, and any other related field.
    • 12 years of experience working in a performance management environment, of which 5 years at enterprise-wide level, and at least 3 years at management level.
    • Ability to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders, both internal and external (Upward and downward)
    • Experience in building data management systems
    • Change management experience
    • Excellent eye for detail and written communications
    • Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19
