    Qualitative Researcher

We’re looking for a passionate and enthusiastic qualitative researcher to join our fast-growing Language Services team as a Qualitative Data Coder. This person would be responsible for handling coding projects from start to end. They’d work with a variety of text-based data including interview and focus group transcripts, open ended survey responses and other documents. The focus would be purely on coding (as opposed to analysis) – but there are future opportunities to get involved in analysis, if you’re keen.

Grad Coach, an award-winning research coaching and academic support provider, is seeking suitably qualified and experienced candidates to undertake qualitative data coding for various research projects.

The role involves coding various types of qualitative data, including interview transcripts, focus group transcripts, open-ended survey responses and other documents. For each project, you, as the coder, would need to:

    • Review the research methodology alongside the qualitative data, and propose a suitable coding approach (e.g., inductive or deductive).
    • Once approved, proceed to code the data within Word using the comments feature.
    • Once the coding is completed, run a basic macro to compile the coded data into an Excel summary sheet (training will be provided).

Your role as the coder would be purely to code the data and would not extend to in-depth analysis of the data, theme development, etc. However, there are opportunities to get involved in analysis in other areas of the business, should you be interested.

    Essential:

    • Masters-level qualification (ideally within the social sciences)
    • Extensive qualitative research experience
    • Strong project management skills
    • Reliable computer/laptop and internet

    Advantageous:

    • PhD/Doctoral-level qualification
    • Strong academic background
