    Product Manager

    Responsibilities and Duties 

    • To research, analyze and interpret internal, external and market factors that impact on the UDSA future product planning.
    • To manage overall product projects to SOS – Start of Sales.
    • Responsible for product line up, specifications and new vehicle costing proposals.
    • Updating product related marketing material and sign off product related marketing content. 
    • Support with managing vehicle variant selection in line with approved product modification features/newly opened variants as per Product Modification Request inputs.
    • Support product launch and promotions.
    • Conduct a continuous competitor analysis to present a cost effective & competitive product offering for the South African market.
    • Work with sales managers to provide technical recommendations for products to be offered to customers.  
    • Review product performance and customers feedback on UD product and provide feedback and recommendations to the General Manager: Product & Planning.
    • Technical & product support to SAF Body Builders.
    • Handle customer modification requests.
    • Support Government sales in tender applications and vehicle selection.
    • Control sales, product, and operations related invoices.
    • Submit and manage final vehicle homologation.
    • Support with new product sales training material and preparation.

    Minimum qualifications and experience

    • Minimum: National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
    • Diploma in Transportation Management (advantageous) 
    • Project Management
    • 6 - 8 years’ work experience (Commercial Vehicles)

    Knowledge and Skills Required 

    • Interpret engineering drawings and CAD models.
    • Advanced truck market knowledge 
    • Basic accounting and finance knowledge
    • Advanced Technical knowledge
    • Understand Road transport legislation and Vehicle compulsory specifications.
    • Vehicle Standards – ISO, SABS etc.
    • Vehicle Costing.
    • Commercial Vehicle Technical knowledge
    • Vehicle design, performance, and operations – vehicle performance testing included
    • Communication skills, written and verbal.
