    Process Engineer - Glen Vista

    Job Advert Summary    

    • Rand Water is currently looking for a Process Engineer to, as part of the Process Asset Management Section, assist in Infrastructure Asset Management of Water Treatment Process Plants based on the approaches advocated by best practice engineering

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Formal Chemical/Process Engineering qualification (BSc Eng or B Eng degree)
    • 2 to 4 years applicable post qualification experience

    Primary Duties    

    • Perform a full range of varied and responsible process engineering work independently, requiring a high level of judgment and independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation, of standard techniques, and where required, devising new improved approaches to meet unique situations
    • Involvement in work where no clear precedents exist, and which requires going beyond existing parameters and adaptation of plans to fit the situation
    • Assist the Process Asset Manager to lead and manage all activities of the section that will result in optimal lifecycle performance of the specific category of assets
    • Assist the Process Asset Manager to develop, compile, execute and manage the section annual Asset Improvement Plan that feeds into the integrated Asset Improvement Plan
    • Assist the Process Asset Manager to develop, maintain, and implement asset lifecycle management strategies (covering asset lifespan, maintenance, replacement / renewal approaches)
    • Conduct, Document and Report on Plant Performance and Condition Assessments (PPCAs) to agreed standards and frequencies – at times either independently or with other process asset engineers and/or larger multidisciplinary teams
    • Undertake pre-project investigations, develop alternative solutions and prepare pre-project investigation reports (PPIRs) either initiating projects or proposing other interventions
    • Present Pre-Project Investigation Reports (PPIRs) at Asset Management Committee meetings
    • Review project Scope of Work Recommendations
    • Review specifications and designs for new assets to ensure lifecycle performance is adequately addressed
    • Assist in providing input to the Potable Water Quality Working Committee and Water Quality Management System Task Team
    • Collaborate with Scientific Services and Operations Divisions in resolving water quality and operational challenges (where required)
    • Participate in Maintenance Planning activities where required including Plant Criticality Analyses, Reliability Centred Maintenance, Planned Maintenance Optimisation and Root Cause Analyses
    • Undertake technical investigations and provide technical advice/reports to the Process Asset Manager, on which Rand Water may base significant decisions
    • Assist the Process Asset Manager in effective management of the section’s budget
    • Create and encourage a culture of teamwork, and achievement, through the application of frequent feedback and communication with colleagues
