    Post Investment Specialist

    Job Description    

    • To ensure the facilities optimization to achieve and maintain Mintirho beneficiary profitability. This will be achieved through the diagnosis of the Mintirho portfolio of beneficiaries, Diagnosis of portfolio performance and recommend interventions to achieve profitability.
    • Level of interaction within and outside of the company as well as the nature and purpose of the interaction
    • Engage with the Mintirho management and board members to advise on proposed appropriate strategies and interventions to improve client and portfolio performance.
    • Engage with the investment beneficiaries to align on objectives and provide guidance to achieve optimal growth.
    • Engage with potential funders (co-investors) to better support the portfolio beneficiaries.
    • Engage with internal auditors to ensure compliance to policies and processes.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities    
    Portfolio Diagnosis

    • Conduct a structured diagnosis of the beneficiaries’ strategic, operational and financial performance (i.e., balance sheet; income statement and cashflow statement) to determine the health of the business.
    • Collect data to determine operational performance and compliance to all relevant legislation (Production, Procurement, Sales and Marketing, HR, Safety, Tax, Exports etc.)
    • Conduct an analysis to identify trends, gaps, and key areas of improvement.
    • Explore ways to improve market access for beneficiaries.
    • Recommend interventions aimed at achieving the required level of improvement.
    • Lead and partner where applicable with relevant stakeholders, including but not limited to the Agricultural Development Specialist and external service providers, to implement the recommended interventions.

    Facilities Restructuring and Optimization

    • Develop a post-investment remedial plan for each portfolio beneficiary to enable business growth.
    • Drive the implementation of portfolio improvement initiatives that enable business growth (this includes but is not limited to repurposing of resources for underutilized investments).
    • Collaborate and actively coach beneficiaries on best-in-class investment utilization techniques to reduce all identified inefficiencies directly and indirectly impacting growth.
    • Provide inputs into any restructuring of the facility to optimize profitability and/or gearing (i.e., provision of insights/guidance on follow-up disbursement decisions; extension of repayment holidays; amending the repayment terms etc).
    • Enhance the impact of the fund on the business and quality of life of beneficiaries.
    • Explore and optimise ways to realise socio-economic impact and transformation of the fund.

    Investment Strategy Implementation

    • Provide input into the development and execution of the Mintirho Foundation’s follow-up pre-investment and post-investment strategies.
    • Conduct comprehensive benchmarking and analysis of trends (including market and economic data) to support the investment decisions.
    • Monitor the performance of the investment portfolio and ensure alignment with the Foundation’s strategic objectives.

    Monitoring; Evaluation and Reporting

    • Compile comprehensive investment portfolio performance reports for the Board of Trustees to enable effective decision making.
    • Document all post-investment transactions and decisions to enable compliance to policies and processes.
    • Maintain good standing and compliance with relevant regulatory bodies.
    • Provide guidance to beneficiaries on matters related to governance; labour law; health and safety compliance etc.

    Skills, Experience & Education    

    • A minimum of a B Com/Business degree in Finance or Economics/Equivalent.
    • A minimum of 6 to 8 years’ experience in funding/supporting SMEs, managing investment portfolios, or working in a similar environment
    • Good PC literacy required (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
    • Good understanding of the post-investment process.
    • Solid analytical and report writing skills.
