Purpose

Safely operate mining equipment/vehicles to contribute to the achievement of operational targets.

The Work: Key Outputs and Accountabilities

Safety, Health, and Environment

• Demonstrates behaviour in line with health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Work collaboratively with supervisor, peers, and relevant others to achieve operational goals.
• Use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to safety regulations.
• Follow SHE standards and specific legislation related to vehicle control.
• Adhere, read, and sign all appropriate work instructions and standards.
• Attend Safety meetings with the supervisor and team and ensure adherence to all safety protocols.
• Effectively identify hazards and safety deviations in the area of responsibility.
• Apply SLAM/HIRA/Mini HIRA correctly and report any safety or health-related issues.
• Take all necessary safety precautions when working on auxiliary equipment.
• Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments and close-out of Safety Actions.

Performance and Delivery

Equipment Operations:

• Safely operate and control equipment/vehicles/equipment, components or materials as instructed.
• Prevent injuries or damage to assets and ensure compliance with the procedures, specifications, requirements, timeframe, and budgetary limits.
• Adhere to all mining regulations and protocols.

Qualifications

• Grade 12/N3
• SA Drivers License
• Red Permit Certified
• Valid Dover Certificate (when required)
• Relevant HME Licenses
• Competency A (advantageous)

Technical Knowledge

• In-depth knowledge of the Equipment operational systems, e.g., Collision prevention, fire suppression system, etc.
• Current technical understanding, with one to two years of operational experience in mining.
• Relevant equipment and component functionality.
• Understand Mine traffic rules.
• Radio, Loading, Lock-out and Pre-shift inspection procedures.
• Safety standards.
• Company policies and procedures.
