Operational Manager: Speciality: PN-B3 (Emergency Department) at Gauteng Department of Health

Requirements :

• Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e degree/diploma in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) a s a Professional Nurse. 
• A post-basic nursing qualification, with a duration of at least 1 year, accredited with the SANC in one of the specialties indicated above. 
• A minimum of 9 years a appropriate / recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. 
• At least 5 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate / recognisable experience in the specific specialty after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in the relevant specialty. 
• At least 3 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognisable experience at management. 
• Computer literacy will be added advantage.

Duties :

• Demonstrate an in depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices and how this impacts on service delivery. 
• Ensure clinical nursing practice by the nursing team (unit) in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards as determined by the relevant health facility. 
• Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards as determined by the relevant health facility. 
• Demonstrate basic understanding of Human Resource and financial policies and practices. 
• Demonstrate basic computer literacy as a support tool to enhance service delivery. 
• Able to generate both written and electronic reports. 
• Able to draw own workplan and that of the junior colleagues.
