Mechanical Draughtsman at Inisys Africa BIM Solutions

Accountabilities
Engineering tasks:

• Create 3D assemblies comprising of large number of parts of very high complexity.
• Check own drawings and those of more junior draughtsmen to ensure the design and information given is adequate and correct for fabrication.
• Implement engineering changes on standard and custom product drawings to improve functioning or ease of manufacture after consultation with production and design engineer.
• Create and issue detail drawings manufacturing.
• Compile comprehensive list of parts to provide project engineers and procurement department with an accurate scope of work.
• Scrutinizing drawings made by others to ensure highest standards are maintained as to drawing quality, ease of manufacture and installation.

Documentation:

• Maintain up to date drawing storage and drawing register.
• Generate thorough job hand over documentation following receipt of order.
• Maintain up to date drawings in the vault.

Engineering support:

• Carry out site visits with intention of equipment assessment for new installations and retrofits
• Mentoring of junior drawing office staff.
• Lease with application engineers to ensure correct drawing time is budgeted for at the tendering stage.
• Ensure any mistake made on a drawing be rectified in order to prevent reoccurrence.

Compliance:

• Exercise good time management to ensure drawing work is done within the budgeted time.
• Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls.

Essential skills, knowledge & behaviours

• Formal drafting qualifications.
• Above average computer literacy, competency in MS Office applications.
• Expert knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Presentable verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of all fan assembly components and their functions.
• Knowledge of dust control systems components and their functions.
• Knowledge of COMPANY equipment installation techniques.
• Tertiary technical education.
• Artisan trade.
• Exposure to manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to site installations.
• Cross-checking of drawings supplied versus equipment quoted.
