    Marketing and Communications Manager - Faculty of Law

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Responsible for the management and coordination of the communication function of the Faculty of Law to provide the full range of services to the Faculty, with the following key performance areas:

    • Compiling an annual communication plan in line with strategic goals and the business plan of the faculty and the University’s marketing and communication strategy.
    • Developing and managing the full communication function in pursuit of the Faculty’s key strategic objectives.
    • Facilitating the production of the following publications, inter alia: newsletters; signage/document/layout/logos; exhibition material; advertising and marketing literature/materials; brochures; etc., in line with the standards and specifications as prescribed by UP Corporate Communication and Marketing Department.
    • Identifying, correlating and sending newsworthy items for internal and external communication media.
    • Developing a publicity strategy and plan for the Faculty, aligned with UP corporate publicity strategy.
    • Organising projects and events with marketing spin-offs such as the Recognition of Achievers, Orientation Week, etc.
    • Managing and designing the Faculty’s website as well as coordinating the contents of the departmental websites in order to reflect mutual strategic focus areas.
    • Managing the Faculty’s social media platforms: Facebook; Instagram; Twitter; and LinkedIn.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s degree (3 years) in Marketing / Communications / Public Relations / Journalism or related;
    • A minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in a large or medium size organisation.
    • Must have a driver’s licence.

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

    • Advanced knowledge of communications (internal and external)
    • Seasoned knowledge of publications and research techniques
    • Proficiency in web design
    • Possession of technical competencies in Ms Word, PowerPoint and Excel (intermediate) as well as web design tools e.g.: html, java script, etc.
    • Advanced writing, administrative, planning and organising skills
    • Interpersonal skills
    • Excellent language and communication skills
    • Innovative, creative and proactive
    • Attention to detail
    • Ability and sophistication to interact with both internal and external stakeholders
    • Ability to meet tight deadlines
    • Ability to work on own initiative and as a member of a team

    ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

    • Honours Degree in Marketing / Communications / Public Relations / Journalism or related.
    • 2 Years previous experience in a higher education environment.
