    Marketer (N001003)

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

    The recruitment of undergrad and post-graduate students (contact and distance) to meet the enrolment target of the NWU.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Direct Marketing:

    • Answer the inquiries on Pregrad recruitment app.
    • Foster good relationships with the headmaster and LO teacher and other role players in the Education sector.
    • Regular communication with contact person at schools through WhatsApp, emails, calls, SMS, etc.
    • Market university offerings to schools during campaigns: Gr12, 11 and 9, Career Guidance, Subject Choice, and Parent evenings.
    • Market the university brand attributes through Webinars, Virtual Open Day and Virtual Tours. Promote the use of the Interest Index.
    • Promote and market the Young Eagles Programme, Virtual Tours and generate opt in information at schools
    • Identify Young Eagles during grade 9, 11, 12 campaigns at schools.
    • Assist with information on the different bursaries on offer by the university and other institutions.
    • Liaise with the faculty of Economic and Management Sciences as decided and agreed in discussions with management.
    • Compile monthly report and send to the manager.
    • Attend all the staff meetings and the training sessions. 
    • Give regular feedback on assigned duties.

    Projects:

    • Postgraduate recruitment: Team member.
    • Young Eagles: Team member.
    • International Recruitment: Team member.

    Additional tasks:

    • Collaborate with the Dept of Education in assisting schools in rural areas with marketing materials.
    • Communication with teachers and contact persons in rural areas as discussed.
    • National career guidance/exhibition coordinator for Vaal Area.
    • Correspond with the Department of Education on UODL offerings.
    • National treasure for Career Exhibition and information association.
    • Collaborate with the international ministry of education in SADC region.

    OHS (Occupational Health and Safety):

    • Participation in fire evacuation drills and bomb threats.
    • Reporting any type of risk immediately.
    • Adherence to safety.
    • Traffic and security signs.

    Ad Hoc:

    • As assigned by Manager and/or Director.
    • Attend all training and staff sessions.

    Minimum requirements

    • A 4 – year teaching qualification or a bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) 
    • A minimum of three (3) years’ proven working experience in the university sector and knowledge of study fields and recruitment systems therein.
    • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in guiding teachers, parents, and scholars on subject choices.

    ADDED ADVANTAGE:

    • A postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in Psychology, Industrial Psychology or Educational Psychology.
    • Accreditation with the HPCSA (if degree is in Industrial Psychology field).
    • Professional registration with the SACE.
    • A minimum of five (5) years working experience as a teacher and career guidance.

    KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

    • MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email, Internet, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp.
    • Audio-visual equipment.
    • Above average knowledge of careers in the workplace including appropriate qualification thereof.
    • Above average knowledge of degrees (pre and post) at the university.
    • Above average knowledge of the school sector.
    • Above average knowledge of the working of the school system.
    • Proven experience of the ability to work with the pre and postgraduate people and understand their way of communication and sharing of information.
    • The ability to win the trust of prospective students, faculties, and other role players.
    • Proven experience of the ability to speak to and influence government officials, parents, teachers, headmasters and scholars and relevant role players within the university.
    • Proven experience to influence and take part in the compiling of the university’s admission requirements.
    • Proven experience of the marketplace and the influence thereof  on the university’s enrolment planning.
    • A valid driver’s license.
