    Market Analyst

    Purpose of the job
    Provide high-quality economic analysis, including anticipating and considering counterarguments or different points of view, and support to the Policy Research and Analysis division, Council and other divisions within ICASA.

    Key Outputs: The successful candidate will report to the Manager: Wholesale Services: and their responsibilities will include:

    • Provide high-quality economic analysis and inputs into regulatory decision-making processes.
    • Contribute to the production of written documents for both internal and external stakeholders (including regulations, discussion documents, position papers, etc.).
    • Conduct economic research into the development of proportionate regulatory interventions in terms of section 67 of the Electronic Communications Act.
    • Communicate economic issues convincingly internally and externally both orally and in writing.
    • To assist the Manager in developing a consistent regulatory agenda to promote competition and enhanced economic efficiency of the ICT Sector.
    • Represent South Africa on regional and global forums.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • A degree in Economics or Econometrics (NQF L7).
    • Postgraduate degree in Economics or Econometrics will be an added advantage.
    • Minimum two years working experience in the regulatory or research environment.
    • 4-6 years working experience of which 3 must be in a research field.
    • 3-5 years professional experience.
    • Proven track record of conducting economic research on the ICT sector and drafting research reports.
