    Manager: Product Analyst

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
    The Manager: Product Analyst is responsible for supporting the innovation, iteration, and optimisation of Payments & Ecosystem products, with a focus on repeat engagement analysis.

    The Manager Product Analyst will work with Product Managers to better understand how users are interacting with Payments & Ecosystem products, to inform and evaluate new features and experiences and to influence product strategy through data-informed insights and recommendations. This entails conceiving, scoping, and conducting analysis to deepen our understanding of the product usage, identify opportunities to deliver more value, and measure successful outcomes

    Strategy Development and Implementation

    • Provide reports and analysis to support and contribute to the development of the functional strategy in line with the overarching business goals
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to enable the regular review of the functional strategy, roadmap and performance to ensure its alignment with the changing dynamics of the internal and external ecosystem

    Operational Delivery

    • Identify and drive improvements to the product which enhances commercial performance and customer satisfaction
    • Analyse product performance, identify problems and opportunities, recommend solutions and support efficient implementation
    • Collaborate with product managers to ensure instrumentation of flows and manage the definition and implementation of A/B tests
    • Communicate the A/B tests results to stakeholders with recommendations for next steps
    • Analyse user behavioral data to identify patterns, uncover opportunities for product improvements and provide insights on how to optimize user experience, flow conversion and user retention.
    • Build the product metric structure for different products reflecting the key KPIs of products
    • Create and maintain internal product dashboards (e.g., with PowerBI, Tableau etc.)
    • Monitor key product performance metrics in different channels (including website, app and other digital channels)
    • Partner strategically and collaboratively with cross functional teams like product management, data analytics and engineering
    • Support data analysis for specific product areas, including metrics tracking, exploratory research, experimentation and results tracking
    • Provide data-informed recommendations on how to increase the value delivered to various customer segments consumers, merchants and developers
    • Guide the selection and implementation of mobile and web analytics tools as needed
    • Support the SME and Retailer product managers in Product roadmap development and implementation

    Governance 

    Operational, Tactical and Strategic Meetings

    • Provide input in strategic meetings when required
    • Provide inputs into the risk mitigation and controls
    • Provide input into the preparation of proposal on change initiatives, policies and procedures

    Escalations

    • Escalate issues that will result in severe time, scope, productivity, and cost or resource impact
    • Provide solutions to escalations that have multiple processes / functions impact on critical path of service delivery

    Function Tactical

    • Provide input into all projects initiated
    • Provide input into establishing objectives, targets and budgets for the function as applicable
    • Identify and document key risks, issues and dependencies and set mitigation actions
    • Prepare documentation required for sign-off / making decisions regarding tactical changes

    Performance

    • Ensure execution in alignment with divisional strategy
    • Continuous performance monitoring and adjust strategy and actions to deliver targets

    Reporting

    • Report on a periodic basis relating to progress made within the function and in accordance with the measurement metrics set by the organisation
    • Report on an ad hoc basis on specific projects, as required

    Budgets

    • Manage functional budgets in line with overall budget and business objectives
    • Managing project initiative budgets in line with business objectives
    • Support the reduction of cost of operations, in line with a least cost operating strategy stemming from the business drivers

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies) 

    Education:

    • 4-year Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, data Science (or related) Degree
    • Master’s in business administration is advantageous
    • Postgraduate qualification/ Certification or training in Product Analytics or Data Analytics

    Experience:

    • 5 or more years of relevant work experience in product analytics
    • At least 3 years’ experience within a non-traditional FinTech or Consumer Marketing environment
    • Experience at the management level in the financial sector
    • Experience in data analysis and management, business performance management and/or reporting within the financial sector or banking industry
    • Experience in scripting with SQL, extracting large sets of data, and building the data extraction pipelines through different datasets
    • Expertise with business intelligence and/or data visualization tools
    • Experience with Python or other data modelling tools will be a plus
    • Experience working in a medium to large organization
    • Experience working across global locations/ regions and have a grasp of political, social, infrastructure and integrity challenges
    • Understanding emerging markets
    • Willing and flexible to travel within Africa and Middle East
    • English speaker. French language being an added advantage
