    Manager MMU Services

    Overview    
    To ensure that engineering risks are prevented/mitigated, set, implement, and maintain governed engineering and maintenance standards;

    • Conduct research to determine engineering standards and legal requirements needed to operate in target entities/international operations
    • To generate and maintain the engineering standards in line with the international standards
    • Establish and implement engineering framework, to ensure implementation and compliance to engineering standards
    • Ensure engineering standards are applied and implemented correctly by line management through assisting line management in the interpretation and implementation of the engineering standards as well as validating compliance through routine management over inspection as and when required

    To ensure that engineering and operational risks are prevented and/ mitigated within the Boiler shop & workshop;

    • Provide the required enabled resources to manage day to day risks and activities associated with Boiler shop and workshop.
    • Conduct ad hoc management over inspections as and when required
    • Guide, direct and coach boiler shop and workshop line management to ensure compliance to minimum operational standards and requirements

    Generate and provide enabled training material to stakeholders on engineering standards;

    • Ensure that all the relevant training materials for various operations are generated and maintained for all manufactured equipment 

    Deliver equipment production targets as per the schedule within the agreed budget and compliance specifications;

    • Ensure that the resources provided is optimally utilized to meet the minimum production schedule.
    • Ensure that during manufacturing and maintenance of equipment meets all minimum legal safety, quality and operational requirements including minimum training standards are continuously met.
    • To monitor daily output, quality, and safety objectives as well as to direct corrective action.
    • If needed take direct control in manufacturing and maintenance processes to correct product output/quality adherence as and when required to achieve daily targets
    • Managing of budget limiting variances against agreed standards

    Set maintenance programme;

    • Develop a maintenance programme to maintain equipment against set engineering standards
    • Ensure the required resources is available to execute the maintenance programme
    • Ensure that all spare parts and equipment is available for maintenance
    • Develop a monitoring system to evaluate effectiveness of maintenance strategy

    Serviced/supported internal and external clients regarding workshops and maintenance;

    • Monitor implantation of maintenance plans
    • Analyse equipment performance
    • Evaluate the programme’s effectiveness to conduct continuous improvement to maximize performance efficiency
    • Provide feedback to stakeholders on equipment performance

    BME governance and audited engineering, workshop, and maintenance standards;

    • Implement and manage engineering standards according to governance structure
    • Ensure legal compliance to occupational health and safety regulations
    • Set maintenance protocols to comply to maintenance engineering standards
    • Conduct internal inspections to verify compliance to maintenance and engineering standards

    Enabled workshops through appropriate resources;

    • Ensure that adequate and appropriately qualified resources (human resources, plant and equipment, tools, training, services etc.)
    • Available standardised materials and parts
    • Establish a cost-effective supply network to ensure the availability of spares and components
    • Standardized spare parts availability

    Continuously improved processes and operations

    • To drive continuous improvement throughout the workshop, stores, and maintenance
    • Evaluate and implement latest manufacturing, maintenance and spares provision management techniques, systems, or processes to achieve continuous improvement objectives.
    • Assist in achieving benchmarking against best practices

    Qualifications    

    • BSc in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent e.g. Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering (E)
    • Code 8 (B) Driver’s License (E)
    • Technology Design - Generating or adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs (D)
    • Project Management qualification (D)
    • Experience in Explosives manufacturing will be an added advantage (D)
    • Demonstrated experience with the design and operation of bulk emulsion pumping systems (D)
    • Demonstrated process and plant design experience in commercial explosives environment (D)

    Experience    

    • Demonstrated 5+ years’ experience in a technical role in the manufacturing engineering (plant & equipment) (E)
    • Demonstrated 3+ years’ experience in managing, implementing, and commissioning of production engineering solutions (plant and equipment) (E)
    • Demonstrated 3 years of proven engineering facilities management experience (E)
    • Demonstrated experience in engineering risk management and mitigation (E)
    • Demonstrated experience in engineering change management (E)
    • Demonstrated experience in production process continuous improvement (E) 

    Duties    

    • Working knowledge of engineering best practice, principles, and performance standards (E)
    • Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology
    • This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services (E)

    • Working knowledge of SHERQ (E)
    • Knowledge of global explosives products, equipment, and services (D)
    • Knowledge of Quality Management (E)
