    Manager - Device Pricing Consumer

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Context (Global influences, environmental / industry demands, organisational mission etc.)
    • The dynamic nature of promotional activity and pricing elasticity and stretch creates an ever changing environment that requires the constant upkeep of knowledge and skills and the ability to identify risks that may cause loss to the company.
    • This position is such that the impact on the financial profitability of the company is within a high risk environment.
    • Business Plan dependent (parameters set as per the MTN SP business needs)
    • Warehouse, Inventory & Logistics driven environment
    • Highly regulated, highly competitive, high volume Electronic Communications industry
    • Liaising with internal customers in an environment where communication skills are critical to manage both  internal customer expectations as well as resolve queries.
    • Ensure that there is overall alignment in terms of meeting financial orientated objectives
    • Operating in a financial and management accounting environment with strict accounting requirements, regulatory controls, corporate governance and policies, processes and procedures
    • Cross-Functional role where there are dependencies and inter-dependencies from all environments
    • Dependency on other departments for input to meet deadlines
    • Accounting is strictly regulation by Accounting Standards and Legislation (strong need for compliance)
    • System orientated environment
    • Constant changes to legislation – operational and systems adjustments

    Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's)

    Key Deliverables

    • Calculating Outright Purchase Price and Maintaining price lists on Oracle ERP
    • Calculate the Selling Price (Outright Purchase Price) for hardware (handsets, routers & MIFI);
    • Ensuring that all pricelist (Outright Purchase) are communicated appropriately across the business;
    • Update the Pricing databases in MTNSP for all Process and manage Price Lists and Discount Lists on Oracle and Pricing Queries from Consumer Operations;
    • Dealer Pricelist
    • Insurance and cash sales Pricelist
    • Prepaid Pricelist – All Channels
    • Tender price updates
    • Change all Price changes made to Customer Price Lists;
    • Follow up on issues regarding pricing e.g. if the new handset is introduced on the network
    • Prepare Pricing Communications on Monthly Basis.
    • Ensure that the Virtual Top Up loading is performed on request
    • Manage any technical issues with IS, ensuring that these issues are addressed and corrected.
    • Ensure all QA controls are in place and implemented.

    Automation and Project Implementation

    • Finding, and implementing new innovative processes, systems or procedures in order to bring about efficiency and effectiveness in the deliverables.
    • Be involved in projects specific to the Device Pricing Department.
    • Liaise with Project managers to prepare URS and Business Plan.
    • Prepare and assist in the implementation of changes within the department brought about by the Projects.

    Independent thought and Judgment: 

    • Maintain a professional work ethic
    • Independent judgement of accuracy and implementation of pricing and promotional data in best suited method on databases. 
    • Analysis of promotions of actual to budgets and obtaining a mix between reducing risks and promoting sales.  
    • Devising systems to measure, analyse and change promotional and pricing activities, contract with trade customers.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

    Education: 

    • Degree in Commerce (Economics, Finance, Accounting, logistics)

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in pricing 
    • Proven track record of communicating decisions to different managerial levels in an organisation
    • Managing/supervisory experience
    • Proven track record of creating pricing frameworks and executing them
