    Maintenance Planner

    Job Description

    • As expert you will bring a deep technical mastery of the process and equipment. That expertise allows you to lead the planning, process development and implementation of Planned Maintenance Elements in a Continuous Improvement manufacturing environment. You will manage this through teams consisting of various technical and non-technical personnel, key support contractors and operations personnel.

    How you will contribute

    You will:

    • Partner & Enable the line leader(s) to deliver the SQCDSM targets-Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Sustainability & Morale for the lines, to ensure Process stability; Participates in the DMS- Daily Management systems meetings at the shift and line level
    • Own the technology and process and centerline settings for the equipment and process and have deep technical mastery of the process and equipment; Owns the PM-Progressive maintenance systems and work processes and the PM-Progressive Maintenance Key Performance Indicators for the line/s along with Centerline Management systems; owns the R&M-Repairs & Maintenance budget of the line
    • Develop, own and execute the line/s preventive and time-based maintenance systems and plans and build capability of the team to execute themselves; Build (spends at least 50% of time) technical and maintenance skills of the technicians working in the shifts, so that they are able to operate and maintain their equipment themselves;  be part of the PM Pillar, own all PM systems and work process at the line level and lead some of them at the department level
    • Partner with the Asset and Reliability team for system improvement and execution of special maintenance tasks; be responsible for Change Management on the line/s, localization of spares and proper break-down analysis and R&M cost reduction for the line/s; Represents the department/line/s as the site technology owner in the regional and global technology forums
    • Assist in VSU for the new initiatives and enable the VSU team; Help the line leader in internal and external benchmarking and reapplication; be the subject matter expert on one of the component categories and be a trainer of PM related subjects for the plant

    • Advanced knowledge (including AM-Autonomous Maintenance Step 4 systems & Progressive Maintenance Step 3) & skill to maintain the dedicated equipment(s)at basic conditions independently, including the execution of AM & PM (BD-Breakdown maintenance, planned maintenance) standards on dedicated equipment(s) and TPM - Phase 3 & 4 tools problem solving tools
    • The capability to lead a Role for the Line. Qualify and coach the next level SWP owners and drive the common opportunity areas across the line in PDCA-Plan Do Check Adjust approach
    • The capability to work as the Line Leader, developing and aligning goal/master plan for the line, deploying and managing IDP for the members, coaching team members on their performance management and career development

    Role Purpose:

    • This role will be responsible for managing the relevant maintenance systems, generate routine and planned maintenance schedules, support the maintenance team in the execution of maintenance and facilitate problem solving so that line availability and efficiency is maximized, breakdowns are minimized, and manufacturing costs are kept to a minimum.

    Roles and Responsibilities will Include:

    Operational Management:

    • Provide technical leadership and support to the plant in terms of asset management technology.
    • Implement business strategies to leverage equipment, productivity, reliability and maintainability, thereby enabling high plant availability and utilisation at lowest cost.
    • Deploy the asset management strategy.
    • Provide specialist asset management support.
    • Ensure that predictive maintenance techniques are implemented correctly.
    • Implement asset management system audits to evaluate data integrity.
    • Assist and coach staff in asset management principles and application.
    • Maintain a safe, healthy and risk free working environment.
    • Conduct effective safety awareness talks/incident recalls/Tool Box Talks.
    • Provide PPE and ensure compliance (Budget Availability).
    • Identify safety hazards on line and manage to closure.
    • Attend and report into SHE Meetings.
    • Facilitate the teams risk management processes.
    • Capture data and generate asset management reports.
    • Analyze the equipment to identify the causes for failure.
    • Identify the maintenance tasks and optimize the schedules.
    • Identify equipment eligible for design out maintenance/modification.
    • Analyze and monitor trends & display line’s loss & waste, ensuring appropriate focus, action planning and implementation.
    • Maintain the updating of downtime information and ensure the integrity of data.
    • Eliminate non-value adding tasks from routine schedules.

    Maintenance Planning and Control

    • Plan the maintenance day following the 5-day planning cycle.
    • Review emergency work orders using the standard.
    • Chair & facilitate the pre/forward -maintenance process.
    • Create the maintenance plan and assign tasks to team members, including contractors.
    • Communicate and distribute plan to team members.
    • Update the maintenance plan directly after the forward planning meeting.
    • Coordinate kick off meeting & lock out register.
    • Organize and distribute maintenance work orders (maintenance packs) with loading sheet to Team Leaders.
    • Manage the availability of required tools and spares.
    • Plan the execution of the autonomous maintenance and running schedules for the unit.
    • Chair Pre/Post maintenance meetings and issue minutes.
    • Update the maintenance plan task lists if required.
    • Create spares reservations.
    • Review safety requirements of tasks in planning table where needed.
    • Identify and prioritize PJO’s to be completed.
    • Perform the Finance budgeting and control.

    Continuous Improvement

    • Maintain situation and systemic problem solving by initiating and ensuring loop closure.
    • Facilitate problem solving sessions using various types of techniques (5 whys, FFA etc.).
    • Maintain the Daily Downtime & 5 why in order to ensure alignment with production data booked.
    • Maintain the marking of the 5 why & FFA occurrences according to agreed plant triggers.
    • Manage and raise corrective maintenance work to be done on Maintenance day.
    • Plan effective Weekly Maintenance Shut Down.
    • Plan effective Annual Maintenance Outages Shut Down.
    • Perform daily reviews of Short Interval Controls (preform tracker, hourly efficiency, Line "V-Profile" speeds) as part of Daily Walk About.
    • Set Line speeds according to "V-Profile" and that machines are run at rated speeds.
    • Arrange a before & after shut Line Study per line.
    • Perform and analysis SAP downtime data (ensuring the correct equipment is selected from the Function Location hierarchy, the correct downtime is entered & the correct root cause on the 5why is populated).
    • Maintain all asset care work to ensure compliance with Asset Care Standards.
    • Reviewing of the RCM packages per equipment together with technical team.
    • Manage the spares or services from vendors to ensure that they are receipted in the correct months & adhering to the budget for the depts.

    Implement Engineering System Change Administration

    • Initiate Engineering Changes Control on SAP and ensure that a responsible person is assigned to execute the change
    • Verify that the Engineering Changes have been executed successfully and documented
    • Maintain the required updates of the engineering change control documents and close change requests.

    Breakdown Management

    • Verify content correctly and follow on work agreed.
    • Recon to stoppage info.
    • Identify root causes & document accordingly.
    • Assist with OPL & QFR development.
    • Engage with Engineering suppliers (specialized services).
    • Demonstrate the ability to read Engineering drawings.
    • Investigate & plan for upcoming promotions/new products/trials.
    • Train team members on new processes/procedures/technologies and ensure competence.
    • Communicate benchmark shared learnings to team.
    • Review the ABC analysis on Engineering stores annually.
    • Provide motivation on changing the Min/Max material numbers on SAP.

    People Management

    • Set and drive the achievement of customer-focused individual goals.
    • Lead monthly, six-monthly and yearly one-on-one sessions based on comprehensive self-reviews and customer feedback to improve performance.
    • Communicate the importance of business performance to the team regularly to create a performance culture.
    • Communicate effectively in the workplace.
    • Develop team members Identify competence gaps and develop training plans to close these.

    Qualifications and Experience Required

    • Minimum of a Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 3 to 5 years production engineering experience with 3 years at supervisory level.
    • FMCG Production Knowledge will be an advantage
    • MS Projects will be an advantage
    • PC literacy (Proficiency in Microsoft office applications)
    • Knowledge of SAP PM & MM modules.
