Job Description

• To consistently deliver world class quality products on time within the Production Department. To execute all activities relating to the production and processing of goods and to ensure maximization of all resources. Accurate execution of job orders as set out by the Production Planner. Ensure that all efficiency standards are met and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Efficient workflow planning to meet production targets and deadlines
• Preparation and running equipment under his or her control. Take full responsibility of the whole production line including managing employees reporting into this role.
• Fault finding
• Perform regular operator maintenance on equipment
• Quality monitoring
• Optimal utilization of resources to ensure minimum waste, maximum productivity and work efficiency
• When required, coordinate, monitor and be hands on with other production lines.
• Adherence to all Health and Safety legislative requirements and meeting the required standards
• Housekeeping in and around the Press Department

Skills and Competencies

• Good planning and time management skills
• Good communication and inter-personal skills
• Problem solving and well-developed decision-making abilities
• Knowledge of bag making process, packing and flexographic printing processes will be advantageous
• Good computer literacy (MS Office)
• The ability to multi–task and to work independently under pressure
• Must be self-driven and self-motivated together with a passion for the paper bag manufacturing or other packaging production environments.
• Triumph machine experience will be advantageous
• The position requires shift work, working over weekends and public holidays as well as occasional overtime when need be.

Educational and experience requirements:

• Grade 12 National Certificate
• A recognised and relevant trade certificate (Flexographic Machine Minder, Packaging trade certificate OR a technical trade certificate)
• At least 3 years’ industry related experience is essential
• At least 3 years’ experience/exposure in a machine minder capacity or similar position will be advantageous
