Load Out Station Foreman at Tshipi E Ntle Manganese Mining

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

• Responsible for the load-out yard, siding, load-out station, weighbridge, equipment, and staff as well as the organizing, controlling, and reporting on the loading of rail wagons and road trucks as per the prescribed loading specifications and schedule.
• Co-ordinates and oversees train loading area to ensure trains are loaded in a timely and safe fashion.
• Tasks include supervision, training, administration, and punctuality co-ordination.
• Responsible for communicating with Transnet on when trains are to come, and once on­site, coordinate their efficient loading and turn-around.
• Responsible for coordination to ensure there is enough material to be loaded on trains and trucks alike and ensure good housekeeping. Organizes the logistics of materials handling.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Ensures trains and trucks are loaded in a timely manner. Responsible for Load Out outputs for both road and rail.
• Communicate with transport vendors (truckers and Transnet) when trains/trucks are to pick up loads.
• Engages with supervisors to ensure there is sufficient material to be loaded on either trucks or trains.
• Enforces compliance in terms of safety and all housekeeping matters and provides input into SOPs.
• Is knowledgeable on rail safety regulator duties, i.e. has shunter license and experience.
• Oversees and co-ordinates the functional activities of subordinates and ensures they comply with training, licensing, and other legal requirements.
• Works with external service providers such as Transnet Freight Rail, Road transport contractors, and internally with the load-out operator, Plant Supervisor, Control Room Technician, and Shunters.
• Performs regular inspections and monitoring to ensure that equipment is maintained to standard and that the Load Out is performed at required parameters.
• Identifies maintenance issues and initiates maintenance of load-out assets and equipment.
• Conducts risk assessments and pre-work inspections, and reports unsafe work conditions, behavior, incidents, and accidents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Matric (Grade 12) NQF level 4
• Valid Shunter’s Certificate
• Computer literate
• Valid Driver’s license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

• Higher Certificate NQF level 5

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

• +3 years’ experience in transport and fleet services (Supply Chain, Inventory, and Logistics).
• +3 years’ experience of load-out station
• +3 years of logistics activities and co-ordination.
• Must have experience of control room environment and SCADA (advantage)
