LECTURER (5-Year Fixed Term Contract Position) - ERRATUM

Responsibilities

The incumbent will be required to:

• Develop departmental competency in research and teaching in advanced timber construction technology
• Develop Continued Professional Development short courses in advanced timber construction technology.
• Teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the programme of Architecture;
• Participate in the Department’s community service programmes;
• Act as study leader /supervisor for postgraduate students as necessary.
• Assist with administrative duties as determined by the HoD.
• Conduct appropriate research and publish research outputs.

Minimum Requirements

• Professional Master’s degree in Architecture;
• Registered or registerable with SACAP or other comparable international professional council;
• A minimum of five (5) years proven practice experience in the field of architecture as professional architect;
• Experience in lecturing at tertiary level;
• Undertaking to further own academic qualifications and research output.

Required Competencies (skills, Knowledge And Behavioural Attributes)

• Good language and communication skills;
• Good computer skills (CAD related).

Added Advantages And Preferences

• Evidence of academic writing skills such as publications in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings;
• Ability to initiate relevant research, or undertake contract research, in the field of advanced timber construction.
• The Department of Architecture is grounded in an ecosystemic design approach and would welcome candidates with a similar philosophy.

The all-inclusive remuneration package for this contract position will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines.
