    Learning and Development Officer (JB3846)

    Key Responsibilities:

    Strategic Leadership and Training:

    • Provide leadership, mentoring, and training for the continuous improvement of academic staff and student success.
    • Inspire the evolution of innovative curricular and pedagogy for both contact and distance delivery.

    Curriculum Development and Quality Assurance:

    • Develop and implement internal training programs to enhance the skills and competencies of academic staff.
    • Ensure high levels of student engagement and support, creating a quality blended learning experience.

    Professional Development:

    • Plan and implement learning and development requirements for lecturers and students.
    • Build and implement the Academic Staff Development Framework to upskill academic staff.

    Digital Literacy and Compliance:

    • Drive the formulation of academic and digital literacy programs for student success.
    • Update policy documents and ensure compliance with country regulators.

    Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • At least five years of Academic Management experience in higher education.
    • Proven teaching portfolio with academic operations experience.
    • Innovation in pedagogy and experience in online, contact, blended, and distance learning.

    Required Skills:

    • Digital Literacy Skills (high competency): Microsoft Office Suite, O365, Online skills, Moodle/LMS knowledge.
    • Facilitation Skills: Experience in face-to-face and virtual/online education, knowledge of educational practices.
    • Staff Development Knowledge: Understanding of staff development basics and experience in initiatives/projects.
    • Content Writing Skills: Experience in content writing for education/development purposes, multimodality, mixed media content curating.

    Specific Duties:

    Learning Strategy Execution:

    • Create and execute learning strategies and programs aligned with the Academic Staff Development Framework.
    • Needs Identification:
    • Identify teaching and learning needs in accordance with the organization’s strategic and operational plans.
    • Compliance and Policy Frameworks:
    • Ensure compliance in factsheets, academic calendars, academic prospectuses, and review of programs, policies, and procedures.
    • Manage the development and review of policy frameworks.

    Training and Evaluation:

    • Develop and deliver eLearning, workshops, and other training programs.
    • Monitor and evaluate the success of training initiatives.

    Regulatory Submissions:

    • Manage registration and accreditation submissions to regulatory bodies in the country.
