    Lead Electrician

    Introduction

    • Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Lead Electrician to be placed in Venetia Project, near Musina Limpopo. The successful candidate will report to the GES. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.

    Job description
    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

    • Enforce compliance and maintain log books as per the 2.9.2 legal appointment held by the role in terms of the MHS Act
    • Effective supervision of the daily activities of the engineering team to meet targets in line with safety regulations and procedures
    • Effective installation, maintenance and repair of all surface and underground site electrical equipment relating to shaft sinking e.g. surface and underground plant power distribution, underground instrumentation relating to the sinking plant, hoist and shaft services
    • Cost containment through effective planning, on time availability of materials and equipment and no rework
    • Consideration of production requirements and deadlines when developing maintenance plans
    • Develop contingency plans to cater for un-planned maintenance
    • Safe operation of medium voltage switching
    • Self and team comply with the lock out systems required on machinery and equipment
    • Effective stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth workflows especially relating to unplanned/non-routine repairs and emergency power outages
    • Maintain good housekeeping standards
    • Self and team understand and comply with SHEQ, M&RC and client’s standards, policies and procedures
    • Effective team and self-management in alignment with M&RC’s values

    Minimum requirements
    Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

     

    • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
    • Section 26 Recognised/Equivalent Trade Certificate relating to Electrical LV and MV field
    • Engineering Foreman Certificate of Competence or proof of formal Supervisory training in Planning, Leading, Organising and Control
    • Onsetter Certificate [Preferred]
    • Valid EB Driver’s License
    • Valid First Aid Certificate
    • MS Office Proficient (Word and Excel)
    • Good English verbal and written communication skills

    Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

    • At least 5 years practical experience as an Artisan, appointed in a legal position
    • At least 2 years’ experience acting on a supervisory level as an Engineering Foreman
    • At least 5 years practical experience on winders (essential)
    • At least 2 years in a construction/TMM environment
    • At least 2 years supervising / leading planned maintenance personnel
