    Junior Climate Change Adaptation Consultant

    • We’re growing our climate change team and we’re looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to take up the role of a junior consultant, with a focus on climate change mitigation and carbon footprinting.

    See below the job description, responsibilities, and minimum requirements for this role:

    Responsibilities

    Conducting climate risk, impacts, and vulnerability assessments at multiple scales from national and sector assessments to individual project assessments.

    • Aligning climate change risks, opportunities, and response measures with lender / financing requirements – including climate and green financing mechanisms and applications.
    • Identification and costing of climate change adaptation measures, including indigenous knowledge, and assisting institutions to become climate-resilient
    • Supporting implementation of the TCFD recommendations by companies
    • Supporting implementation of the Paris Agreement
    • Assisting with development of climate change strategies

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in climate change, science, engineering, environmental management or equivalent (Master’s Degree will be an added advantage)
    • At least 2 years’ experience with climate change impact, vulnerability, and resilience assessments
    • At least 3 years’ experience in risk management (disaster risk, enterprise risk, climate risk, etc)
    • Experience in identification, assessment, costing and development of adaptation measures
    • Understanding of physical and transition climate change risks and opportunities
    • Must be technically competent and comfortable with MS: Excel and mathematical equations.
    • Basic understanding of national and international climate-related policies, laws, conventions, and agreements

    Added advantages:

    • Experience with climate modelling
    • Experience with climate finance
