Journalist - Worcester at Media24 (Pty) Ltd

Main responsibilities:

• Independently conduct research and research for news reports and articles with a particular focus on general and sports news
• Write quality news reports and articles on strict deadlines
• Create articles for our target audience
• Develop ideas for articles
• Adhere to the content standards, quality and style as set out by the publication
• Comply with the requirements of the South African Press Code
• Create and connect with a network of contacts for help with research for news reports / articles
• Can be asked to do page layout and other production related tasks, take photos and create content for online and other media

Skills required:

• Have excellent photographic skills
• Fluent writing in the languages required by the publication (Afrikaans and English)

Requirements:

• Diploma or degree in Journalism, Languages or Media Studies
• Experience in writing for a newspaper or magazine, preferably experience in a news office
• Good general knowledge and understanding of the publication's target market
• Local knowledge and knowledge of current affairs
• Valid driver's license
• Relevant computer skills
• A passion for media
