Job Purpose
The Department of Local Government, Western Cape Government (WCG) has an exciting employment opportunity for a suitable individual who would like to make a difference on contract for one-year to strategically guide and facilitate the JDMA team to ensure active participation of team members to promote co-planning, co-budgeting and co-implementation of the mutually identified priorities and projects in the District/Metro Implementation Plan whilst promoting collaboration and co-ordination across all three spheres of government, associated institutions and private sector to improve service delivery to citizens. This is a one-year contract opportunity and the successful incumbent will be stationed in Cape Town, CBD.
Minimum Requirements
Note: A requirement for appointment at Director level is the successful completion of the Senior Management Pre-entry Programme as endorsed by the National School of Government. This is a Public Service specific training programme which is applicable for appointments at SMS level.

All–inclusive salary package of R 1 105 383 per annum (salary level 13).
Note: The remuneration package consists of a basic salary (70%) and the employer’s contribution to the Pension Fund. The remainder of the package may be structured according to your personal needs.

All shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a technical exercise that intends to test relevant technical elements of the job, the logistics of which will be communicated by the Department. Following the interview and technical exercise, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend a generic managerial competency assessment (in compliance with the DPSA directive on the implementation of competency based assessments). The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS Competency Assessment tools. To be considered for nomination into an SMS post, you must complete the Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme. The purpose of the Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme, which is a public service specific training programme applicable to all applicants who aspire to join the SMS, is to ensure that potential SMS members have a background on processes and procedures linked to the SMS.
