IT Security Operations Engineer at Salt South Africa

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement, manage, and maintain security infrastructure and systems.
• Optimize tools for effective monitoring, alerting, and reporting on security incidents and vulnerabilities.
• Enhance the IT Network and Systems Engineering team’s skills and provide guidance on IT security operations.
• Contribute to IT security policies, procedures, and standards.

• IT Security Operations Team Lead

Requirements:

Essential Experience:

• 3 years of experience with security appliances, particularly FortiGate.
• 2 years of experience with SIEM solutions.
• 3 years of managing Microsoft Windows solutions (Windows Server OS, Active Directory, Business Servers).
• 2 years of experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) or cloud resources (Azure, AWS).
• 3 years in network administration (switching, routing, wireless) and security protocols.
• 3 years with forensic and monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark).

Desirable Experience:

• System security vulnerability identification and remediation.
• Public key infrastructure (PKI) and cryptographic protocols.
• Knowledge of PCIDSS and local data protection legislation (POPI).
• Security-hardened operating systems (e.g., Kali Linux).
• Infrastructure security policies based on industry standards (e.g., CIS, ISO27001).
• Automation or scripting (PowerShell, Python).
• SAP Business Systems and database experience.
• ZTNA/SASE experience.

Qualifications:

Essential Certifications:

• Fortinet NSE4
• Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) / MCSA

Important Certifications (at least one):

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CCNA Security
• MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)
• CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+)
• ISC2 CISSP/SSCP
