    Internal Client Services-RIL-Senior Consultant (Professional Enablement)

    Job Description
    Main Purpose of Job

    • Assists the Senior/ Associate Director and Senior Manager to ensure that:
    • The Firm’s Conditions of Employment, policies and procedures are up to date, relevant to the business, legally compliant and aligned with best practice at all times
    • Operating as a member of the RIL team by capturing and processing contracts and implementing financial controls to manage risk
    • Act in a specialist advisory role in respect of employee relations

    Internal Client Service & Relationship Management:

    • Ensure that internal clients receive adequate and appropriate legal and compliance services

    Identify key Legal and Compliance Risks:

    • Ensuring all the applicable key legal and compliance risks are identified and managed

    Communication:

    • Regularly communicate within the firm and business units on key risk areas and actions plans

    Training:

    • Adequate training is provided, ensure appropriate training is offered and given in relation to key legal and compliance issues, risks and projects across the service lines.

    Engage and Manage the Service Lines:

    • Assistance and guidance provided to service lines as required

    Monitoring:

    • Ongoing monitoring and management of legal and compliance risks

    Day to day queries and contracting:

    • Providing general legal advice on legal queries

    Legal Alerts & Presentations:

    • Managing of legal alerts and legal presentations within the Firm
    • Non-Permanent Employment
    • Drive compliance of contracting protocols across service lines. Identify risks and develop effective ways to mitigate such risks.
    • Make changes to contracts as required, ensure that these are uploaded on Vault
    • Create & maintain contracts in accordance with documented procedures & guidelines
    • Managing benefits, and terms & conditions of non-permanent workforce
    • Provide system administration & support
    • Assessing requests for contracts using and issuing appropriate contracts
    • Ability to reveal loopholes in the system that have resulted in non-permanent relationships not being assessed for the non-permanent workforce
    • Firm-wide reporting on utilisation of non-permanent workforce arrangements

    Policies and Procedures:

    • Research, develop and implement Policies & Procedures that are legally compliant, represent best practise and are accepted by the business
    • Includes process of consultation with business and employees if required;
    • Applies to new policies as well as updates/amendments to existing Policies & procedures
    • Ensure that Policies & Procedures on Compass are up to date and legally compliant
    • Ensuring that Policies & Procedures are consistently applied in each service are and region.

    Employee Relations

    • Provides specialist advice on misconduct & incapacity cases as well as grievances/dispute resolution – under supervision of management
    • Facilitates consistent application and interpretation of policies and procedures relating to employee relations;
    • Advise on disciplinary hearings case preparation and management – under supervision of management.

    Advisory and specialist knowledge

    • Knowledge & understanding of human resources business processes
    • Knowledge & understanding of CoE & policies & procedures (employment obligations and requirements)
    • Managing of employment agreements contents aligned with law
    • Managing risk & changes to contracts and termination, work permits, independence
    • Act as subject matter expert relating to labour law as it relates to employment and other contractual relationships
    • Staying up to date with legislative & case law developments in area of expertise

    • Interrogates, clearly understands and communicates to team the agreed strategic objectives of both own Service Area and that of the client Service Line/s
    • Manages the implementation of the strategic imperatives in line with service area strategy relating to:
    • Implementation of change initiatives within designated area/s
    • Management of the implementation of plan on a day-to-day basis with team, if required
    • Monitoring skills level in team relating to required outputs, assisting as necessary
    • Clear and regular communication with superior and team
    • Builds professional relationships within Service line/s to understand business needs in area/s of responsibility
    • Generates and implements innovative ideas and solutions within area of responsibility in collaboration with team members to enhance / renew service offerings.

    • Independently delivers quality work within area of expertise, within deadlines
    • Provides client/s with sound professional advice and support on issues arising within area of expertise without reference to superior supervised
    • Applies solutions to technical issues that arise within area of expertise, with input from management
    • Communicates regularly with both line manager and client to meet deliverable expectations in specific area of expertise

    Operational Effectiveness

    • Proactively identifies technical problems that arise that may affect delivery and propose resolutions to address these
    • Independently delivers on designated tasks within area of expertise
    • Provides line manager with detailed reporting on status of deliverables on a regular basis
    • Manages risk in area of engagement in alignment with Deloitte policies and processes
    • Reviews own work prior to submission to ensure quality and provide guidance to junior team members on quality standards

    Development

    • Shares expertise and knowledge with team members
    • Offers support and guidance to junior team members
    • Actively works to address development areas identified

    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications

    • Relevant legal qualification, preferably an LLB

    Minimum Experience

    • 5 years working experience at Consultant level within the function
