    Internal Client Services- Manager / Senior Manager – QIRR Independence: Inspection and Testing

    Job Description

    Main Purpose of Job

    • An exciting opportunity exists for a manager to become part of the Central Independence team. We are looking for a process-focused individual with strong multi-tasking skills and who wants to be part of a dynamic team. This position will provide a great opportunity to play a vital role in enabling Deloitte to serve its clients whilst protecting our reputation and brand.

    This role will be responsible for providing critical support to the firm through the monitoring of compliance of individual practitioners with the firm’s independence requirements:

    • Responsibility for conducting Independence Inspections on Leadership / Management employees within the firm.
    • Preparing quality feedback and reports with supporting schedules / documents.
    • Interpreting, applying and providing technical advice on personal independence matters based on regulatory requirements (IESBA, Companies Act, SEC, Deloitte Policy Manuals) and investment products for partners, directors and professional staff at all levels across the business.
    • Identification of areas where additional learning/interventions might be required related to personal independence and prepare and issue communications in line with the communication strategy.
    • Roll out relevant learning on developments related to personal independence.
    • Applying the disciplinary code and mange the issuance of disciplinary / transgression letters.
    • Maintenance of the Inspection and Testing documents, systems and programs
    • Prepare reporting
    • Proving evidence of procedures in relation to ISQM requirements in relation to the function.
    • Ad-hoc functions in relation to the Inspection and Testing function.

    Qualifications

    Desired Qualifications:

    • CA(SA) or equivalent Or other relevant business-related tertiary qualification:
    • A compliance, audit, or independence background
    • Professional service delivery
    • Understanding of a regulatory environment and ability to interpret and apply technical rules in a practical way.

    Minimum Experience

    • 4 years working experience (at least 1 year in a manager role)
    • Knowledge of the applicable regulatory bodies (IFAC/SEC/PCAOB etc.) applicable to the audit environment.

    Desired Experience

    • 2 years in a manager/senior manager role
    • Knowledge of risk and independence aspects affecting the audit environment would be an advantage.
    • Knowledge of relevant Deloitte Policy Manuals on Independence would be an advantage (if you are a Deloitte internal candidate)
    • Hands-on independence experience and a good understanding of independence in a professional services environment and the application of Independence management methodologies would be an advantage.
    • Good understanding of ISIN numbers, Listing Symbols, Collective Investment Funds, Asset Managers, Subsidiaries, Associates, Securities Accounts, Bonds, Structures Products, Notes, Exchange Traded Funds, Pension Products etc. and Corporate Group Structures.2

    Technical Competencies

    • High computer literacy, with solid working experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word; advanced Excel would be an advantage).
    • Demonstrated leadership skills
    • Excellent written and verbal business communication skills and an excellent proficiency in English – written & oral.
    • Able to conduct meetings and workshops and deliver presentations skilfully.
    • Delivery- and action-focused, and persistence and perseverance in driving issues to resolution.
    • Good understanding of the principles of risk management and the ability to develop and present risk views with appropriate mitigation strategies.

    • Excellent time management skills; ability to work on multiple simultaneous activities, apply prioritisation, and negotiate deadlines.
