    Internal Client Services- Manager / Senior Manager – QIRR Independence: Firm Consultations

    Job Description

    Main Purpose of Job

    • An exciting opportunity exists for a manager to become part of the Central Independence team. We are looking for a solution- and process-focused individual with strong multi-tasking skills and who wants to be part of a dynamic team. This position will provide a great opportunity to play a vital role in enabling Deloitte to serve its clients whilst protecting our reputation and brand.

    This role will be responsible for providing critical support to the firm and its practitioners in respect of all firm independence related matters through:

    • Interpreting, applying, and providing technical advice on firm independence matters based on professional codes / regulatory requirements (IESBA, Companies Act, SEC, Deloitte Policy Manuals) for partners, directors, and professional staff at all levels across the business.
    • Reviewing memorandums prepared by business related to Independence matters.
    • Drafting memorandums on complex technical independence matters and addressing consultations.
    • Provide Subject Matter Expert Training, both for internal teams as well as to other Service lines.
    • Managing / Monitoring Consultation system
    • Roll-out of new independence requirements to the Firm.
    • Develop, update, and maintain systems, templates and processes and manuals.
    • Liaising with various service lines and independence teams in the Deloitte Africa Regions.
    • Provide oversight over quality of consultations in the Independence Consultation system (Phoenix)
    • Provide reporting and apply trend analysis on a regular basis.
    • Roll-out of communications with respect to subject matter areas and consultation procedures in line with the communication strategy.

    Qualifications

    Desired Qualifications:

    • CA(SA) or equivalent

    Or other relevant business-related tertiary qualification:

    • External audit, or independence background
    • Professional service delivery
    • Understanding of a regulatory environment in an audit environment and ability to interpret and apply technical rules in a practical way.

    Minimum Experience

    • 4 years working experience (at least 1 year in a manager role)
    • Knowledge of the applicable professional codes / regulatory bodies (IESBA / IFAC/SEC/PCAOB etc.) applicable to the audit environment.
    • Knowledge of relevant South Africa Companies Act requirements affecting an audit environment. (Section 90(2)).
    • Basic awareness of the European Union Public Interest Entity (EU PIE) rules and UK FRC.

    Desired Experience

    • 2 years in an audit manager/senior manager role
    • Knowledge of independence aspects affecting the audit environment would be an advantage.
    • Knowledge of relevant Deloitte Policy Manuals on Independence would be an advantage (if you are a Deloitte internal candidate)
    • Knowledge of relevant engagement acceptance procedures in relation to proposed new audit clients would be an advantage (Deloitte internal candidate)
    • Hands-on independence experience and a good understanding of independence in a professional services environment and the application of Independence management methodologies would be an advantage.

    Technical Competencies

    • High computer literacy, with solid working experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word; advanced Excel would be an advantage).
    • Demonstrated leadership skills
    • Excellent written and verbal business communication skills and an excellent proficiency in English – written & oral.
    • Able to conduct meetings and workshops and deliver presentations skilfully.
    • Delivery- and action-focused, and persistence and perseverance in driving issues to resolution.
    • Good understanding of the principles of risk management and the ability to develop and present risk views with appropriate mitigation strategies.
