    Instrument Technician

    Purpose of the role

    To perform service, repairs, calibration, and maintenance of equipment to ensure their reliability.

    • Maintain the Analytical laboratory equipment to a professional standard.
    • Maintain analytical testing equipment and facilities to comply with Heineken standards.
    • Ensure calibration schedules are kept to schedule.
    • Ensure compliance with laboratory best practices.
    • Maintain calibration schedules for production laboratories.
    • Maintenance and Calibration of Laboratory equipment per schedule on ARMS
    • Perform troubleshooting when instruments are on breakdown, practical electrical/electronic troubleshooting and repair skills are expected.
    • Perform regular site visits to departments where equipment is in use.
    • Maintain good departmental relations and address any queries departments might have.
    • Compile and generate reports on any repairs, calibration and maintenance carried out.
    • Provide regular feedback to Lab Lead regarding all work carried out.
    • Manage all critical spares onsite.
    • Provide training to other departments as and when requested.
    • Support on call outs related to equipment breakdowns
    •  Validate inline equipment in accordance with LSS standards.

    • Assist development of Brewing, Packaging and Lab staff with respect first line maintenance and problem solving
    • Coach packaging and brewing staff in equipment handling and maintenance to ensure minimal breakdowns across all laboratories.
    • Participate in brewing and packaging performance discussions with respect to equipment.
    • Participate in Formal Problem Solving, provide technical expertise and documents the process and results.
    • Facilitate implementation and coaching of technical recommendations.
    • Ensure a safe working environment and practices within the different requirements.
    • Ensure safe laboratory practices including safe chemical handling and storage.
    • Identify and eliminate all unsafe, unhealthy and environmentally damaging conditions and work practices by conducting safety audits.
    • Ensure compliance to ISO9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards.
    • Promote safety awareness.
    • Ensure the department operates within company SHE standards and OHS Act, through continued education and training and obtaining the co-operation and commitment of all staff to observe all safety rules, procedures, and processes in order to drive zero accident mentality.

    Qulalification : 

    • National Diploma Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering or equivalent (Instrumentation Trade test would be an advantage)

    Experience

    •  At least 3-5 years’ experience in servicing, installing, and maintaining laboratory equipment
